A few days ago, I was in one of those "what should I write?" modes so I did a random title generator search and the first title to come up was "The Frozen Feeling" and that just felt so right at the moment.
For the last few days, the songs been floating in my head and I keep rewriting the lyrics and chords. Today we took the dog for a sunshine-soaked walk in the warmest February temps I can recall. When I got home I sat in a sun-filled room and wrote the lyrics and chords out and called it done, for now.
Lyrics
I never liked saying goodbye It always brought those tears to my eyes But with all the cries in this town over you Your leaving feels so sweet eucalyptus raindrops in the street
Let the frozen healing begin Let that snowman be my twin Melting ridges of yesterday Snow angels flying every which way
The gift of warmth unwrapped today The sun dissolved almost all the gray Strangers smiling in an old-fashioned way The dogs are back on the street Laughter echoes, smiles bring the heat
Let the frozen healing begin Let that snowman be my twin Melting ridges of yesterday Snow angels flying every which way
I hope this visit's over Hope it doesn't happen to you Just show your resistance however you do Nobody would ever want this It's not how we exist
Let the frozen healing begin Let that snowman be my twin Melting ridges of yesterday Snow angels flying every which way

Powerful stuff. A well crafted song especially given the topic—you’ve captured these sentiments perfectly.
Glad you came upon this title. And were able to make such a joyful song with it. It really speaks to the feeling of relief and gratitude you must have now that the thugs are going away. Sounds great to let the frozen healing begin!
I love your "alone in a darkened room" songs. This song has so many layers... Like a snowbank.
What a great song. The Frozen Healing…how great of a title for what’s hopefully happening in your community. Feels very positive and light. Love that feeling in Minneapolis when the ice begins to break and people come alive. Suppose you could take it either way this year. Your first verse brought to mind Laurie Lindeen by the way. Love that this could have different meanings depending on the context the listener brings. So glad we got a stripped down, natural vocal/guitar version of this. Powerful song. Can totally see you playing this one live. Let the frozen healing begin!
I don't know about you, but winter is not my favourite season. It's just something to be endured to get to the other three seasons. In spite of the cold topic, you've found a way to make winter seem more friendly than my version of it. That's entertainment!
