Liner Notes

#fakeit Well, this was fun! Here's my version of Alex Klage's (metalfoot) FakeIt Challenge. He posted the words and chords. I wrote & recorded this music without hearing his version or anyone else's version. Now I'm going to go listen to what everyone else did.

All the sounds (except my vocal chords) are from Spitfire Audios free LABS collection.

Lyrics

WIDE AS THE PRAIRIE SKIES FAKEIT! 2026 Lyric assigned to Public Domain by Alex Klages (metalfoot)

C D Chorus: It's time to open up my heart G Wide as the prairie skies C D It's time to look at the world G With some brand new eyes C D Too long I've been sitting in the darkness G Em And I've needed light C D It's time to open up my heart G Wide as the prairie skies

Em C V1: I'm turning off the TV news D G I'm shutting down the mobile phone Em C All this doomscrolling is the death of me D It just makes me feel more alone

V2: I'm stepping out the front door I'm going to breathe some fresh air See the good things happening around me It's time that I learned to care

Chorus

V3: I'm going to walk through nature I'll just enjoy it cuz it's there Appreciate the small things round me Because there's glory everywhere

Bridge: Em It might not change the world G But it can change my mind Em And that's the kind of change F That it's awful nice to find

Chorus

Verse I didn't use (even though I'm trying to do all this). V4: I'm going to eat some good food I'm going to learn to be healthy And care for others like I should now Find pleasure in simplicity

I love this. Beautiful song! It's a cool challenge! I should visit the forums more (I never do!) I will have to listen to some of the others!

Cool waltz feel on this interpretation! I like your earnest heartfelt vocals too on these meaningful words 😊

Strong vocal and guitar chugging in my right ear! Very pretty and melodic. Yup it is a good lyric to get away from the burden!

Spitfire LABS are wonderful, but not as wonderful as your vocal chords. You sound like Paul Simon at points here. Gorgeous. It really feels like you’ve connected with the words, so that when you deliver that lovely ‘wide as the prairie skies’ line, we really get the sense of a great big horizon opening up. Bravo.

I really like the pacing you put on the lyric and the melodic structure. So very nice. You truly made this one your own in the best possible way!
