The bulls are running roughshod Through the china shop Nobody knows what it’ll take To make them stop Shattering in seconds What took centuries to build Now they’re surveying the wasteland And they couldn’t be more thrilled And they won’t let a thing Take the wind out of their sails Because when you’re a hammer The world is a bucket of nails

They couldn’t be taken seriously So they settled for absurd Rewrote interpretations And redefined the words Their better angels urge them But they ignore the pull Just grab everything with grubby hands And cram their pockets full Hoping blind Lady Justice Won’t see their thumbs on the scales Because when you’re a hammer The world is a bucket of nails

Why do with compassion What you could do with might? When you oversee the levers Then who needs the oversight? There’s only one way forward But they never learned the lesson Each assertion is a lie Each accusation a confession

The walls are closing in now Though the pace is awful slow The idiots are playing dumb But they know we know they know So the dashes just get madder As they smash the windowpanes Every one of them a hatter And the tea party’s gone insane And nothing will be fixed Until they fill up all the jails Every one of them a hammer And the world is just a bucket of nails
