Go - And Never Darken My Towels Again!
Liner Notes
No #MovieQuote collection would be complete without a Rufus T. Firefly reference. I think Duck Soup (1933) will always be my favourite Marx Brothers film.
For this one, I set my DAW to 7/8 for some more #odd-time-signature shenanigans and raided my percussion toy box, because @chipwithrow had been using #tongue-drums on his #oddinstrument track and I hadn't used mine yet. They were followed by #tambourines, #bongos, #shakers, #hand-drums, and a #kalimba. And I piled on some #weird dissonance and odd chords with the Fender Jazz, and the Warr guitar, and the Strat, because I'm me. And then I got totally carried away and added some #tubular-bells because why not?

Very nice to hear fretless bass played in tune … looking forward to the sequel about the little-known fourth Marx brother, Bricko, who worked as a bricklayer until a wayward Studebaker broke his tools. He said, "Go, and never park on my trowels again" …
When in doubt, add tubular bells. Loving this groove, nice layering! Definitely coming back here for more.
I loooove the Marx Brothers. Awesome fat bass sound. You really use that 7/8 really well. I'm listening to this on headphones (of course) and looking out the window at the trees and somehow it is all working together for me. Excellent work here.
OMG Rufus t Firefly long Live Freedonia. Oh yes the toy box is out! (mine is primed as well) I need a white board to work out all the sounds! ooo the dissonance is strong in you! I thin i have discovered full body bopping i am tapping along! very cool mate and no i am not going to even consider genreising this!
This groove is officially funkedified! Cinematic throughout. And that toy chest of percussion instruments makes me giddy like a little boy on Christmas. I broke mine out too - haven’t used a ton yet, but it’s eyeing me.
Wow this is complex! The movie quotes are lost on me I'm afraid because I am no film buff. However the really wide mix of instruments makes for a really involved listen
Ooooh, that's a lovely little glocky loop to start us with. I was not expecting that bass line when it came in - in a good way. Some very Fripp note choices in this. Love it.
Really like how you've treated 7/8 here - it feels very natural, but also a bit more rhythmically ambiguous than usual. The bells go so well with that lush bass.
