Not Going Home Alone

Liner Notes
Nigel sent me an initial track with synths and drums. I came up with a lyric and sent it back. Nigel added more synths, bass, guitar solo and mixed the song so that it feels like the singer really is moving around the pool table taking shots.
Lyrics
Chalk the cues, rack the balls You can break, what’s your call
Stripes or solids, whadaya choose Either way someone’s gotta lose
I’m not going home alone I don’t care what you’ve outgrown And I don’t care for your exasperated tone I’m not going home
Almost over, just the eight ball left Can you believe, we sunk the rest
Corner pocket, I might scratch What’s the best way to make this last
I’m not going home alone Don’t try to tell me what I’ve outgrown Don’t talk to me in your exasperated tone I’m not going home
I’m not going home alone Doesn’t matter what we’ve outgrown Give it up with your exasperated tone I’m not going home Not alone

This is a great collab. The mood feels like someone stalking around the pool table drawing out the time. The double tracked vocals work really well. The synths, drums and keys are fab, Really love the lead break.
I played a LOT of pool in my younger years--been probably decades since I have now. So...thanks for the memories! GREAT VOCAL!!!! ❤️
Nancy, LOVE this song idea you came up with to match the feel of the music! The late night pool hall is perfect. Also love those opening lines and how you track the course of the game thru the song. Esp. like "don't try to tell me what I've outgrown". Your vocal and everything about this works great!
i like the sassy belligerence in this, i could really picture the scene. love that opening riff , lots of attitude in this :) nice collab both!
Very music-lounge-y. Intimate vocals, chilled-out groove... Yes, this is good.
Cool vocal approach to the song. I like the pool references as a framing device for the movement in the lyric.
I like the subtle jazzy groove - cool drum and bass parts. Great first line, and nice, nice story overall. I'm not much of a pool player but I could picture the scene in my mind. Nice collab!
This is enjoyable. I love the lyric and delivery. So much is conveyed in those few words. Sexy. Strong. Maybe some history between them. Maybe not. All in 2 minutes! Music is a little smokey and sultry. Not to nention a pool game going on. Beautiful job. Thanks!
Thanks Rob. Nancy has done a few collabs with me in the past. Always a pleasure.
I imagine this as part of a film soundtrack. The lyrics are so visual, which I love in a song.
this is marvelous. nancy, you have blossomed into such a wonderful singer. i was hanging on ever note. i like the way you approached the chorus differently from the verses. the verses are son slow and deliberately lie , ais if you are lining up a new shot with each syllable.and then the verse just pours out with its refusal to accept the idea that the game is over and its time for you to leave.
I'm always impressed when a lyricist does a great job, like you did, Nancy, fitting a lyric to a track, and catching the mood, and inventing a setting and story. I enjoyed this a lot!
