Lyrics
me at home [c3] c g d em
she still calls me up on christmas eve
she sounds more than a little tipsy
i hear her sigh as i say goodbye c d g all she wants is me at home
g c d g she doesn't like the way the dishwasher loads
the thought of me snoring should be enough to be alone
the way she acts when i slurp my coffee down
i thought it was enough to make her loose her nerve
[chorus]
e g d am i know people want to call me a wrecking ball
i know people don't know us at all
angry words and holes in the wall
d c g and she still wants me at home

This is poignant and funny at the same time. Esp. love "she doesn't like how the dishwasher loads" and "angry words and holes in the wall". The first is so funny and specific, and the second is so resonant and sad. Really like this song a lot, Lee.
Wow, I like the lyrics here. That chorus is solid, and some great couplets here. Sort of a John Prine (whom I love) sensibility — beauty in the ordinary, great detail. Nice melodic construction, too. This hits me just right.
I've known, and truth be told am related to, people like this, so I can deeply relate to this tune. Having just heard the song this one inspired also adds another dimension to this one.
Wow, Lee - this one is so tender. It feels like it’s a duet between what did happen and what could happen, or what could happen and what does happen. Maybe every relationship has this tenderness and loss wrapped together.
It’s been amazing to watch you write so many good songs over the past year and building the Songcircle with Becky.
