Listening To Respond

Lyrics
Are you listening? I need you to hear me now Or are you doing that thing Where you tune me out? I'll betcha you think You already know what I'm gonna say
You pushed me so I pushed back No, it didn't have to be like that But you don't wanna hear what's going on You just listening to respond
Are you listening? It should be the easiest thing to do You're not interrupting? That must be hard for you Sometimes you flip a coin It don't matter, heads or tails
You pushed me so I pushed back No, it didn't have to be like that But you don't wanna hear what's going on You just listening to respond
Ah ah Ah ah It's neither here nor there You don't like my friend, I don't care You were loud You were clear You're scared You're scared You're scared
Are you listening? You know, I wish it weren't true But that question about listening Always makes me think of you We flipped that coin Even though we knew the odds
You pushed me so I pushed back No, it didn't have to be like that But you don't wanna hear what's going on...
You pushed me so I pushed back No, it didn't have to be like that But you don't wanna hear what's going on You just listening to respond

thank you so much
I am bookmarking this - The strumming on the acoustic is fantastic - very "Neil Young" and I mean that in the best way. At first I thought your song was going to be directed at the "reviews and reciprocation" dynamic of FAWM - but I listened and I was rewarded with something so much deeper and profound. I dont know if there is something in the water but this is the 3rd song in a row that I have randomly stumbled on and really enjoyed
When someone compares my guitar playing to Neil Young, I always take it in the best way 😎
All hail the blues!
The king is dead. LONG LIVE THE KING 😆
Liking the dark edgy groove to the guitar line which underscores the conflict in the lyric. Nicely done!
Thanks @metalfoot -- I suspect that when I play this on electric it'll bring out more of the Neil Young influence (I hear the Tom Petty loud 'n' clear on the acoustic).
You had me from that opening riff!
Super acoustic rock. I can see @fabkebab 's Neil Young comparison.
You really get over your narrator's frustration with this egoist they are dealing with. The person this is addressed to needs to be reminded we've got one mouth and two ears so we can listen more than we speak!
