Mirror, Mirror

Liner Notes
The lyrics that Kristi wrote seemed to sing themselves off the page, so how could I resist?
Lyrics
She thought she knew what her life was about But the window opened and the truth flew out The lies were slick and too many to count But she soon discovered her life was upside down
Oh, mirror, mirror can you help her Someone's lost her crown Mirror, mirror tell her where to find it In the shards scattered all around
She gave her love and she lived so well She was Cinderella till the clock struck twelve (Instrumental)
Oh, mirror, mirror can you help her Someone's lost her crown Mirror, mirror tell her where to find it In the shards scattered all around
I want to tell her not to worry She's stronger than she knows Doors of tomorrow will be open And there are friends who will be close
Oh, mirror, mirror can you help her Someone's lost her crown Mirror, mirror tell her where to find it In the shards scattered all around

Thanks for this and all your support, Liz. Truly appreciated.
This afternoon, I'll start working on the music for the next set of lyrics you've allowed me to play with.
Sweet fairy tale retelling. I like the personification of the mirror telling her to find herself in the broken shards. The instrumental with the clock was a nice touch!
Thanks, Sarah. Glad it caught your ear.
I love the fairy tale theme woven through the lyrics, a really clever concept executed wonderfully. And the music does a great job bringing an uplifting and comforting energy - it has me feeling that even though things are a mess for our Cinderella right now, she's going to get through this and ultimately she'll be okay. Great collab!
Thanks very much, Cola. Like you, I was attracted to the story in the lyrics, so, thanks to Kristi for giving me something solid to build on.
Thanks again for bringing this to life Paul! I detect a hopefulness in your vocal and empathy too for her. I like that musical interlude around the clock striking twelve! Very sensitively delivered overall. Nicely done!
Glad you like it, Kristi. Nothing happens for me without the lyrics so, if something good has happened, it's because there was a strong platform to build on. Thansk for that!
Just as people sample different bits of music together , i feel like this is a delightful patchwork of snow white, cindarella and probably a couple of others I dont know - it conjures up almost a brand new fairytale, in a delightful piece of music - Another neat discovery for me and congratulations to both of you!
Thanks very much for taking a peek in the Mirror, Mirror. Glad you stopped by.
Loved Kristi's lyrics and I'm enjoying your collaboration. So elegant, beautiful and musical in every sense. Love it. Wonderful music, singing, playing. I love the clock striking music and the whole atmosphere of light-hearted, enjoyable song.
Thanks very much, Nadia. You create so many good pieces of music yourself. I don't know how you find time to listen to others (and me!) but I'm glad you do.
Thank you, Paul. You are too kind. Listening to fantastic songs is what keeps me inspired :)
I recorded a song today with a line about looking in the mirror--very different from this classic take, though. Great collaboration! ❤️
Thanks very much, Jerry. I feel lucky to partner with some fine lyricists on FAWM. Good words make good things possible.
paul's sensitive handling of kristi's wise lyrics gets across that dark truth that falseness in love can pull you off cloud nine and into the deep pit of self-reassessment.
Thanks again for your kindness, Bill,
This is such a great lyric! It is a wonderful re-make of familiar fairy tale images that creates a poignant heart tugging sentiment. Brilliant chorus! Love the melody the delivers it perfectly, capturing the sentiment.
