Liner Notes
#folk #harmonies #girladjacentwithguitar one for the thespians out there, perhaps... this is another one i'd written the chorus for, but finished it for fawm!
challenge: see if you can find all the quotes/references i took from r&j in the lyrics! there are 9 :)
Lyrics
she thinks you love her she doesn't know the truth you sleep beside her but in the dark your eyes are searching
touch her with bitter conduct with civil hands do you dare to tell her? do you think she already knows?
you go out, she asks you "where've you gone? what are you doing? it is a nice night for it after all come back home come on home to me i'll put the fire on"
you say "juliet, juliet juliet, don't ask me questions mantua was meant to keep you safe and now i bite my tongue"
she worries she's too fond you worry she's too willing to listen for now you're both alike in dignity let's see how long that lasts
when are you going to let it out? it sucks the honey of your breath awake at night, draw your sword over soldiers' necks
where've you gone? what are you doing? it is a nice night for it after all come back home come on home to me i'll put the fire on
you say "juliet, juliet juliet, don't ask me questions i know you don't mean any harm but still your mouth won't move"
they tried to warn you you'll pay the forfeit of the peace they tried to warn you you'll pay the forfeit of the peace

The harmonies in this are lovely!! This is very smooth & relaxing, & I do love a literature-based song!
I think the muffled, slightly loose guitar works really well with your crisp, very close microphone - it gives the full focus to your words. I liked the harmonies and the way you approached everything, I think the lyrics were interesting even though I didnt understand them !!
There's a really cool, late night feel to this track. Love the subtle harmonies especially on the chorus. I don't remember enough about reading R+J at school to get the references!
I def would not be getting a passing grade on the challenge if it were a test. Been a while since I've read r&j. But you did a really nice job turning this into a song and working in the different pieces from it into this song.
Lovely lyrics and voice . I really like the how you’ve placed the harmony.
Gentle and soothing, the chorus is a strong and inviting melody. Patient ears attend. Your harmonies are gorgeous. Great scaffolding to use both the story and lines from Shakespeare to make something your, new yet immediately familiar.
