Moses and Jesus and Buddah

Liner Notes
#uke #ukulele I thought up that first line, what sounds like the opening to a joke, and just kind of went with it, without any plan of what I would say.. and it just kind of spilled out, fairly fast. Played on my ukulele, which I don't play all that often. Meant to be lighthearted, hope you enjoy! I think in a way I was channeling our very own fawmer chip withrow... who writes things like this (but better) with offhand wisdom and grace as easily as breathing!
Lyrics
Moses and Jesus and Buddha Walked in a Jerusalem pub If you ask me what happened next I’m just gonna give you a shrug
Cause the fans and stans of those prophets Some have no great sense of humor I don’t want them tracking me down And make my life just a rumor
Moses and Jesus and Buddha I know it sounds like an old set-up For a joke that comes out of a joke book Cue the part where I give a long build-up
But they didn’t stand out as special Or shine like some big holy grail They could have been you, they could have been me And that is the point of this tale
They could have been you, they could have been me And that is the point of this tale
It’s the ordinary that is special The commonplace that is divine I’ll tell you one thing, you do not need gold rings Or a crown, in order to shine
I’ll tell you one thing, you do not need gold rings Or a crown, in order to shine

clever witty song. it does have some chip in it more musically ! but definitely a different lyrical approach.
nice, I love the uke/vocal pairing. the message is perfect
Wise and witty words!
Great message, and I’m a sucker for a catchy uke song that delivers meaning in a humorous package! Nicely done!
All humans, yep! The ukulele does wonders as backup for your voice and lyrics!
Yep, just regular folks. Like we all are. Thanks for the shoutout, and I'm sure with you on the message! Dig the strumming, too.
it does sound like a song chip would write. I never thought it before but most of the heroic figures of myth were of the royal family or were associated with them through knighthood or something. Im not sure about buddah. And after hearing the song, Im not even sure any more how to pronounce his name. but what is interesting to me is that both Moses and Jesus were regular folks, not the royal heroes of myth, maybe its a jewish thing, as the transition from a theocracy to the rule of kings was a bad one. ..whereas western europe was dependant upon its noblemen to keep order and initiate wars.
ukulele is perfect. why does your voice contrast this incredibly with it!!!! lovely storytelling, makes you s h i n e !<3
Yes, the ukulele works here, and nice playing. I like this fun little parable. Great writing.
Yes, share your truth and tread lightly. I really like the John Prine ending.
It is true that there is a lot of special in the ordinary. And this does feel like a Chip song!
