Hi everyone! I’m Caroline (she/her) and I guess this is my 7th FAWM‽ So excited to be back! I’m in my early 40s, I play roller derby (Rainbow Smite, #887) I’m a mom of three (7, 9, and 12 years old), and I’m in the East Bay/San Francisco area.

I transitioned around 2.5 years ago (I’m a trans woman) and haven’t had vocal feminization surgery so it’s been a slow but kind of amazing process learning how to sing all over again. I’ve been vocal training for ≈ 2 years now and I’m starting to feel pretty good about it!

I would love to collaborate vocally or instrumentally! I just got a new Fender tele in dark sparkle green that I can’t wait to put to use, and I also have bunch of others — standard and classical acoustics, keys, strings, cute lil’ ukulele bass.

I won’t be using any “AI” in songwriting or recording, just maybe some Logic session drummers/musicians.

Caroline,

I love the tenderness and gentle loving warmth you brought to the lyrics. Your music is really gorgeous! It was perfect timing as my wife and I just finished dinner and it was nice to play this for her. She really loved it! Love is love!

Thank you, Liz

Oh that’s so wonderful to hear you liked it, I’m really grateful for the astounding contributions you make here and it means the world to have done this together!! I’ll play this for my own wife shortly 😊

I would love that Caroline!! Thank you!!! I will mark it for you!

Hi Caroline, we're paired for R2 of the random Collab 🙂 -- let me know if you've any preference for getting started! Thanks, Rich

Hi Rich! I’m thrilled to be paired with you, I adore dark moody synths and industrial influence. Do you want to use my lyrics for a vocoloid or should I try singing? I was thinking of maybe “Glow” as a title, and lyrics about the importance of letting people see your light, maybe something involving bioluminescence in the ocean or with fireflies too. Maybe a tempo of ≈ 100 or a little over and four on the floor synthwave-style beat? I’m also happy to just write with whatever you want to make!

[pic]

I love the title and intent! I'll set up a song to discuss further, ta, R

Can’t want to hear more! I suppose if you haven’t already done something for the current challenge of “Sawtooth Melody” it would be great to work that in too, you seem like exactly the guy for the job!

[pic]

Oh hi, fellow trans person also relearning how to sing 😄

[pic]

Dude it’s hard!! Your voice sounds so good though, and I’m really loving the songs you’ve written this year, so I’d say the learning is going quite well 💜

[pic]

Oh thank you! Your voice training seems to have served you well too

[pic]

Sorry didn't reply sooner about the collab, I think it got buried in my feed! I've listened to quite a bit of your music on Bandcamp now. Dang you're good! Can I email you to talk about it more? Or you can email me, mine's in my bio. hope to chat soon

Email sent! ☺️

Happy FAWMing! Good to see you here!

Hi we're paired up for random collaborations. Please give me a song title.

[pic]

Hello!! How about “Just One More”?

That’s intentionally quite open-ended, though if you’d like more of the themes and examples I was thinking of I’ll share that too ☺️

Just One More

Hera got in a rage with the ageless Zeus She cried baby just maybe I’ll turn you loose The god of Olympus replied with lightning and thunder He cried Hera girl let me fill you with wonder

I was walking out the door And she cried just one more I said we’ve been here before She smiled just one more

The story of Pocahontas is a sad lullaby By the Mississippi River we hear her cry She asks the whimsical question which is why Love songs are eternal they never die

I was walking out the door And she cried just one more I said we’ve been here before She smiled just one more

I gave you orange roses it was your favorite kind of flower We made love at midnight and talked into the early hours So why am I crying when I know that my sins are forgiven Why am I crying when God has taken you to heaven

And words of a song will never make it right Bob Dylan is perishing but you see him fight There are mysteries not meant to comprehend The truth is that all good things come to an end

I was walking out the door And she cried just one more I said we’ve been here before She smiled just one more

If I was Shakespeare I wouldn’t write a tragedy Simple human kindness is the world’s remedy When I say I love you know my words are pure If you desire my fire than yes just one more

I was walking out the door And she cried just one more I said we’ve been here before She smiled just one more

Wowww this is so fantastic!! I absolutely love it. As I’m working on the music, is there a certain style you were thinking of as you wrote this?

[pic]

I am glad you like it. No I didn't think about it.

[pic]

Happy FAWM look forward to hearing what you do this February! :)

[pic]

Happy FAWM, and congrats on the new Tele!

[pic]

Thanks!! I swear it’s only 2/3rds because I want to be Julian Baker 😅

[pic]

Rainbow Smite! You have to meet Twelve Bar Bruise aka helen on here!

[pic]

Haha that is an amazing name, looking her up now 🤩

[pic]

Hey, I would love to collab with you! <3 You're very talented

[pic]

Aw yes please! What would you like to do? I’m down for pretty much any style and if you want to sing that would be awesome, maybe I could add harmonies/backing vocals?

[pic]

Here's hoping you have a terrific FAWM!

Thank you and you too!!!
