Liner Notes

Well, sometimes, you just have to call it done...

This song drove me nuts, and I guess I have to be "OK" where I got it too. I liked it on my acoustic, but since it's FAWM, I thought I'd try some new (for me) stuff, and started with a virtual organ and drums.. Then started adding layers - I was a bit too far along to change, when I decided I had set the BPM too slow. It lost some of the feel I thought it had and got a bit dirge-y. Realized, I had issues with singing some of the melody..whatever. I still like the song, just not overly fond of this presentation of it - but with 8 hours (or more?) invested.. it's coming out. 😆 #smash-my-daw-into-little-pieces #gothic (?) #rock (ish?)

Lyrics

"Now You're Running" I can feel it in soul, I guess I always will the subtle way the world shifted When you got your fill Sometimes my love's still with me Even when she's not Not dealing in forgiveness In case you forgot

You ain't seen the likes of me You ain't gonna guess my name After all the things you've seen You're never going to be the same

Been out here on these road Walking every mile "That's just how it goes" He says, with a smile I could find you in the dark of night, in the light of day But the thing I truly search for Has faded away

You ain't seen the likes of me You ain't gonna guess my name After all the things you've seen You're never going to be the same

'cause now you're running, now you're running now you're running, you're running away now you're running, now you're running now you're running, you're running away

Running away, Running away, Running away, Running away,

I can feel it in my soul...

I like the double track vocals, and the slowed pace works well for the song IMO. i also think the virtual organ is cool. Nice work!

The smash my DAW hashtag made me laugh out loud. Did you try shifting the bpm higher though you end up sounding like a chipmunk singing? LOL I love the song and am glad you shared it!!

Thank you for listening - I didn't try to speed it up..maybe I'll do that today, for a chuckle. But, I may resist after FAWM, and re-record a bit quicker - it has grown on me, a bit.

I was drawn in right away by the organ - love that sound, and I'd just been thinking about using it in a song of mine! The doubled vocal adds spectral goodness to the lyrics, and that's some tasty lead guitar, too. I like this one a lot. I'd be interested in hearing an acoustic version, too.

Thank you! Acoustic is how I play out, so that's how this will normally be presented. But, I may revisit this after FAWM, and see about getting a proper recording to release.

I had to laugh at these liner notes; I know it too well. In the first half of the song, I can almost hear you struggling to push the tempo, to no avail. This has a cool late-night jam session feel to it, and a too-cool David Berman style delivery. I love that surprise major chord on the "ain't never gonna be the same" going into the bridge.

Thanks you! I think I was trying it to fling it together fast - never took the time to check the foundation... it happens, Thanks for listening.

You can feel the emotion you put into your words through this song. No matter how you think it turned out. I do agree with the too slow bpm, but I can hear the song itself bursting to be heard. Very good lyrics, very evocative and paint the picture of emotional pain clearly.

Thank you I play live way more than I record, so it will be set right "in the wild" Thanks for listening!
