Woken up in the very early hours this morning because our arsehole neighbours through the wall decided to run a goddamn spin cycle at 1am. Hours of staring at the ceiling later, I decided the only thing to do was wake myself up by cranking up a guitar and writing a song.

Went into my snippets folder and found something labelled 'Fun grunge pop riff, June 2021'. Two hours later, I had... this. Rough vocal, I always struggle to mix stuff that isn't just straight-up bellowing. My voice doesn't do subtlety and I'm not sure echoes and delays really work in a mix like this. Ah well. Just a demo, onto the next one.

Quite happy with the guitar sound on this one. I've been doing a combination condenser/57 blend this FAWM, but in the interests of getting things done I just used the 57 today. Seems to work just fine, at least for a song like this.

Yeah! I can so relate. I've had many a night's sleep ruined by people wanting to "share" their latest musical infatuation by broadcasting it to the neighborhood as they drive by. It's ether that or displaying their pride in having fitted a straight pipe exhaust. I'm so impressed at the guitar tone and the mix. Nice work!

57 is an absolute Swiss Army knife. It’s dependable and sounds great. Never leave home without one! Sorry about your neighbors; people are the worst. Another dope song, we have very different definitions of rough vocals. Yours always sound great. My voice acts as a 2nd butt more than a musical instrument unfortunately

So much fun. I think I'd be more than happy with that guitar sound, too. Love the deliciously balls-out arrogance of "you're living in my world now, and don't you know it" - turn up that amp and give 'em what for!

And from experience: when your neighbours realise you have a full 1980s JCM800 Marshall Stack at your disposal, they tend to be quite considerate about making noise. Never piss off a rock guitarist. :-)
