Going Bowie
by @clenig17
Liner Notes
I started with the Bass track it was grooving. Then I built out to the keys and guitar. After that I decided drums were in order and I tracked them using my tandem “tea towel” muffles. It gives you a sweet 70’s drum sound.
Then some improv lyrics about going on vacation. It reminded me of Bowie so much that became the title.

Your melody and vocal delivery are Bowie for sure! This is a jam. The first shifts at what I'll call the pre chorus and chorus are great, and lead right back to the main groove. You mash these styles and sounds together in a delightful way.
Smooth groove. Great drum sound. The refrain is super cool, very Bowie progression!
I like the mood changes throughout the song. And this BASS!
I can see where the bass line would need to be obeyed. Absolutely feeling a bit-o-Bowie. Digging the oddities popping in and out. - string jabs, a doorbell (?), sweet guitar tone, and nicely thought out solo. I'm in.
Your voice is sublime!! And this is interesting melodically; to me it goes to the right places at the right times. I love the unpredictability of it all too, and the little flourishes of instruments that come in and out. I can definitely hear the Bowie vibe!
Huge 'early' Bowie fan, so I had to check this one out. Definitely a Bowie feel to the vocal. Did you ever read how he tracked vocals? Big room with close and distant mics!
