Lyrics
The old car Still sitting there Gathering rust Soon enough It won't even run Collecting dust
Memories of that old car Live with me still It reminds me of her now And it always will
Not the sort That you'd collect A four-door sedan It was left Here with me Just before she ran
Memories of that old car Live with me still It reminds me of her now And it always will
I can see her wave goodbye Leaving that car behind Like the love I thought we had I guess I was blind

How have I been missing these acapella challenges? I think this is the first one I've ever come across. GREAT JOB, EVERYBODY!! ❤️
What a gorgeous sound! Excellent work all round, and especially on the mix.
The lyrics put me in mind of "Big Yellow Taxi", where the real subject is only revealed in the last verse. Nicely done. The mournful tempo and close harmonies add to the feeling of loss.
Oh, my goodness. I miss my old cars. It’s like the whole planet fits in this old car with the distance between the low and high lines. Also adding to the every single person feel is the down home image of cars rusting in the yard with the fancier feel of layered harmonies.
Yes wow what a wide range and great to hear a cappella songs and especially collabs. some fabulously low notes hear. I can only go down safely to an E below the stave (on a good day). listened to it a few times. Great. I did a version of Ave verum corpus by Mozart on my page but disown it as a FAWM song because I'm not the composer. Great stuff.
Yeah, I was shocked that @metalfoot went for that low B, too. But it seemed to work so, cool!
The three octave range (that low B 😳) across the vocal parts makes this sound wide open, like you're sitting there looking back at your old car in the distance after you've left it behind. Really neat piece!
Nice observation! Thanks!
Brilliant song. Love the story of the lyrics. That beautiful soprano voice and those wonderful low notes work wonders. This team sounds great together!
@metalfoot B flat! I thought I was pretty bassy but that is exceptional! Really unerpins the whole piece but the tenor parts are lovely too. ~great work allround!
Thanks so much for all of you who have listened and commented! It came together so easily thanks to the wonderful team.
Love love love this! Really sweet sad nostalgic story that is delivered brilliantly with the lovely 4 part harmonies! Truly wonderful work!
- Took me a long time to find this because the # should be #acapella4track. :-) That said, I'm so glad I kept searching because this is great! Well done ya'll. Terrific lyric and vocals. Love the low drone under the melody and the high floating harmony. You all sound very good together!
Low drone is probably me. LOL -- I went LOW bass on this one.
wow, this is really wonderful on all levels! great harmonies, great lyric and the whole thing hangs together really well.
So well done. Wonderful harmonies and fun lyrical story. This is impressive to me. Awesome!
Cars hold so many memories in them! This is such a good song idea! And you all sound beautiful
Awesome low end, fun to listen to. Great ensemble you’ve assembled. Works really well for this song.
Really nice job. Love the harmonies and it’s a good story line. This definitely works!
Smooth! I'm a sucker for harmony and your team delivered. Love it!
Everyone's timbre and tone meshed perfectly. I love Leah's high coupled with that low male vocal for contrast. Beautiful work to all involved! The lyrics are thoughtful. I felt the vocal melody reflect it well!
oh what a pleasure for my ears ! thank you !
Great work, everyone! Lovely tune and all the harmonies blend so well. I enjoyed this a lot.
Wow, really impressive! Well done!
Ear candy!! Nice work everyone! @cleanshoes voice really rings through in a nice way. Love it!!
Very good, it all hold together very well! you can clearly differentiate all the voices yet they play along together so well!
I didn't realize that I had 3 low voices on this one when I set it up. Nice job in putting it all together. You sound great!
Yeah, I thought of maybe putting another higher voice but the chordal structure didn’t seem to want that and @cleanshoes was so nice on top.
You all mesh so well together! I like the juxtaposition of the choral harmonies with the subject matter. I particularly love hearing your seventh chords together.
Thanks! It was so fun!
Great collaboration! The higher notes float and the low harmonies are all sorts of fun.
