Meaningless Sex (To Get Over Your Ex)
by @majordanby
Liner Notes
This is a style I developed last FAWM where I did some heavier indie rock numbers which I really enjoyed. I’m listening to a lot of bands, like Adult DVD, Snapped Ankles etc. that are a great crossover of indie and dance music. This is my attempt at that genre.
Lyrics
Meaningless sex to get over your ex and it works most of the time, Meaningless sex it gets you over your ex and it works most of the time (x2).
You don’t need mindless technology, It rots your mind and turns it to cheese, And then you go out into the bright wide world, And you don’t know how to cope with the speeds, Your mouth keeps moving, Your finger keeps scrolling, Watching nothing most of the time, Your teeth keep grinding, laughing and smiling, It’s time to get yourself outside.
Whatever lets you sleep at night, Tell yourself that you were right, It doesn’t really matter now does it? It doesn’t really matter now. So find someone who will let you touch them, And wants to touch you back if you’re willing to let them, The hotter the better, It will make you feel stronger, And it works most of the time…
You get meaningless sex, You get you over your ex, You get your meaningless sex To get you over your ex, You need meaningless sex, Then you’re over your ex, And it works most of the time! (x2)

As a man trying to get over my ex (and my instagram addiction), loving this haha. Wow the production, that bass and drum combination is fuckin unreal!!
I've just got a new sub speaker and i thought my floor might collapse during the intro! vocals are like a male Kate Nash which is right on brand. I love this!
Haha... "most of the time" Cool sounds and it's infectious (in a good way...not like in the way that the few times meaningless sex doesn't work). Very enjoyable!
Really well executed - love the synth decorations that run throughout and the energy of the vocals is palpable. The melodies are great ear worms. The bass line really drives the track with its fuzzy feel adding to the feel of the track. (Some crossover with the vaccines track on the same topic)
Haha! I totally forgot about that song. Great track! Maybe I inadvertently ripped it iff. Oops. 😂
This takes me back to the early 2000s. I was so into this style, so I totally dig this. The fuzzy bass, tom groove, and the agular guitars rock. This is really well done. Lyrically, the humor is enjoyable and very relatable.
Great line right from the start. I could hear a crowd chanting along with you. The noisy quick synths are cool. 😎
Great Wilco feel and super Clever arrangement. If the sex doesn't work I am sure writing a good song will. 🙏
Yes, the clickbait title did indeed work to get me to play this, and I'm so glad I did: this is some awesome indie alt rock, with a relentless bass groove and super-catchy chorus and vocals with just the right attitude. Really cool!
i am unfamiliar with this new genre, but i sure do like this example of something that is happening outside of the reach of my antennae. i like the humor and the speed of the writing and delivery,
I absolutely love your hook. As a human who’s had to figure out the dating world after a long relationship, this resonates in a dark yet hopeful way. Thank you for today’s earworm!
What an earworm this is! High quality, utter Fawmsomeness! So many things going on, so much fun listening. Thank you for bringing this one to my speakers!
This is so good, man. Totally fun and energetic (those bubbly synths!). Qualifying the sentiment by adding "most of the time" keeps it hilariously real.
