Let's Take The Bus
Liner Notes
So this is a love song about an awesome date my partner and I went on last week. We took the bus along Jefferson Avenue (Which runs along the lake and the river that makes the East boarder of the city/country) and stopped at our favorite breakfast spot, then went to the DIA (Detroit Institute of Art) and from the bus stop to the museum is like a 2.5 mile walk, so we just hoofed it down the street and took in all the sights that we used to be around all the time when we were in college downtown at Wayne State. She's the best. It was a beautiful day of presence and love and art and clean, cold air, and Detroit nonsense.
Detroit is not the best town for public transportation, we're pretty car brained out here. That said, taking the bus to get downtown from the eastside where we live is a really nice treat if you got a whole day to screw around with the public transit system here.

Lyrics
Let’s Take The Bus
Gsus - A - B - A (Riff) Let’s go downtown. Let’s go get breakfast at Norm’s in West Village Then head to the DIA And let’s take the bus.
Let’s bundle up Seventeen layers because we’ll be walking On inches of ice and snow So let’s take it slow
C Bm G Am G Em :|| D/F# A Good Idea is a Good Idea You say with a snowflake decorating your eye And across the aisle, we hold hands and smile As the day is unfolding like a gray winter sky C/G D/F# G(riff) And it’s you and I on the bus.
Everything’s Gray There’s so much color in you and your questions I love the way You take in the world
Sitting too long It’s only 2 miles why wait for the Q Line When there’s nothing better than walking With you in the snow?
C Bm G Am G Em :|| D/F# A Good Idea is a Good Idea You say with a snowflake decorating your eye And across the aisle, we hold hands and smile As the day is unfolding like a gray winter sky C/G D/F# G(riff) And it’s you and I on the bus.
Dbmaj7/Ab Eb9/Bb Em7 Cmaj13 Am7 Dsus13 Dbmaj7/Ab Eb9/Bb Em7 Cmaj7 Look at your breath, it’s been here before On Woodward avenue in theatres and stores Isn’t it grand to love someone you know, Who’s seen you grow up from lifetimes ago? We get to share all these things that we’ve seen, From new perspectives as they’re all changing. And you’re not the same, and neither am I And everything stops for the snow in your eye
Gsus riff Everywhere’s Art We see some together we see some apart and It’s all kinda beautiful to share
In Kresge Court With a white wine and a good book and the comfiest chair I find you exactly as you’re supposed to be Let’s sit and be slow But the museum’s closing so we better go
A good idea is a good idea.
A Good idea is a good idea you say with a snowflake decorating your eye. Heading home, to be potatoes As the day we had follows wherever we go And it’s you and I On the couch.

I love this guitar part oh my! Very melancholic and beautiful song.
There's something nice about taking the bus and letting the transport be someone else's problem (except, of course, when it doesn't show up and the timetable doesn't work for you...). But this is a nice little bit of daily life put into song. Sounds like a lovely day out!
Awwwww this is so darn nice. I feel the love you have for your partner emanating from the chords and vocal delivery alone, and the lyrics are tear-jerkers in the most wholesome way. Really beautiful.
This is such a sweet slice of life shared with your love! I enjoyed taking the ride with you, knowing a little about Detroit and its feel as my brother lived there for several years. Thanks for sharing this with all of us!
Very nice imagery and setting the scene. and the music fits the vibe. very nice.
Beautiful lyrics, nice, gentle playing.
I love the lines, It’s only 2 miles why wait for the Q Line When there’s nothing better than walking With you in the snow? and And you’re not the same, and neither am I And everything stops for the snow in your eye
Great Pacing .... a lovely example of how the journey IS the destination, and the person you're sharing it with is the most meaningful part of it. Lovely song!
Beautiful song. You paint a picture you can see it all unfold. Great changes. The gentle delivery suits the description. “There’s so much colour in you and your questions” contrasting with winter’s lack of colour is a great line. Good writing.
A beautiful song. I've done similar trips many times in years past!
