Last Day
Liner Notes
A song about suicide. Consider this a trigger warning.
This is rough as hell and it's not my favourite song I've written, but I had to write it because I'm still mourning the loss of a very close friend who took her life recently. Her ashes are currenty in my studio.
A rollie is what a self-rolled tobacco cigarette is called where I come from. It might be different where you live.
If you or someone you know is experiencing thoughts of suicide, please reach out to someone.
Lyrics
She's got a taste for her rock n' roll An attitude and a rollie rolled No one tells her not to be bold No she can't be told
Now she's made it to her last day When she decided she would slip away I only wish that there was less to say But I suppose that's why we pray
(Whistling)
And now she's made it to her last day When she decided she would slip away I only wish that there was less to say But I suppose that's why we pray (that's why we pray)
She's got a taste for her rock n' roll (rock n' roll) An attitude and a rollie rolled (rolie rolled) No one tells her not to be bold No she can't be told
And now she's made it to her last day When she decided she would slip away I only wish that there was less to say But I suppose that's why we pray
And now she's made it to her last day
(Cat meows)

I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. Thank you for sharing this song with us. "I wish there was less to say" is sadly relatable and an appropriately bittersweet lyric for this topic.
This is a really touching and heartbreaking tribute for your friend. I'm so sorry for your loss. 💜
Thank you ❤️
