Northbound Again
Liner Notes
I know it doesn't sound like it, but this is one of the best songs I've ever written. I listened to enough of y'all to try to add more singing melody into the song, and I believed it worked!!!! #acoustic #reddirt #country
Lyrics
Northbound Again
Verse 1 Spent the winter with the Gulf waves rollin’ Great Friends, and the beer taps flowin’ Pelicans drift along surf foam But now the winds say to head back home
Verse 2 I Got me a shop with a lot of bikes I spend the spring trying to make em right And every evenin my wife and I sit outside and watch the worldgo by
Chorus I’m northbound again, that highway heads around Toward wide-open skies and that red dirt ground From the Texas surf to the prairie wind Oklahoma…I’m comin home again
Bridge Gulf was kind, kept the cold away But home runs deeper than a winter stay Somewhere north where the tall grass sways That’s where my heart will always stay
Final Chorus
I’m northbound again, that highway heads around Toward wide-open skies and that red dirt ground From the Texas surf to the prairie wind Oklahoma…I’m comin home again Oklahoma…I’m home again

This is my favorite line: "And every evenin my wife and I sit outside and watch the world go by". What a picture of peace!
I love the idea of "again" - Northbound again... like you've done it so many times, and yet you look forward to it each time. You should be proud of this one. It kind of has that John Denver "Country Road" feel to it, which is a -very- good thing in my book. :-)
There's a warm and relaxed vibe to this that is very enjoyable. I can feel it working for you, which makes it work for you. It's a good song to smile and sway to (which is what I'm doing right now while listening).
This is some mighty fine storytelling! You did a great job of taking me to the gulf on this cold near-Chicago night! That's the mark of a good song! I enjoyed your vocals, sincere and heartfelt. You can rightly be proud of this song!
I really enjoyed the storytelling and imagery and the sorta soft-rolling lilt to the melody. Nicely done!
I really like the character in your voice - I can feel you sitting on your verandah watching whats going on around - and I get a sense its not much - a little tumbleweed and the odd nocturnal mammal and spectacular views. The guitar playing is hypnotic and draws you into the song, the voice keeps you there - I enjoyed this great job
Lovely imagery. I want to go to the place with the pelicans and the bike shop.
