You Are Enough

Liner Notes
I saw this on a t-shirt a couple of weeks ago and made a note of it, then today scribbled some lyrics between meetings. It is one from my occasional series of "Terrible Songs For Terrible People". I promise I'm nice really...
Lyrics
I can tell that you're feeling a bit out of place And wondering if you belong If the things that you do even matter at all And you think you get everything wrong
And you feel that you're just an imposter And you survive on delusions and doubts Although you're still getting away with it all Will today be the day you're found out?
Well I'm here to tell you you don't need to fret And that everyone knows that you're doing your best It's okay, you are enough I mean, more of you would be too much

"Aw what a nice message with a pleasant voice and guitar, this doesn't seem like a terrible song for a terrible person at al-- oh, surprise zinger, youch!" <- my thoughts while listening :)
that last line is a knockout coming from a left jab.
Thank you; I needed this! (I love -- and embody -- "And you survive on delusions and doubts/ Although you're still getting away with it all." Also, I love the rhythm of the lyrics and how they fall on the instrumental part.
And then the ending punch, made me smile big!
who cant relate to this in some form, Lovely song of course its a bit cheesy but - cheesy is maligned - some of the best are! that last line made me go hmmmmmm
Nothing terrible about this. A lovely message that I'm glad I got to hear today. The vocal phrasing is great, I love how you hold the notes just perfectly at the end of the lines. And, of course, the pay off line lands perfectly.
I really like your voice, it has this special tinge in it. The song is lovely.
I was just thinking, this sounds quite unusually earnest, even Mary Oliverish and then I got whacked by the punchline. Really enjoyed the whack though (ahem).
That was the goal, yes :). I don't think I could bring myself to do something earnest and just leave it at that.
I love your voice. You have a powerful and commanding voice. I love the sus chords on ukulele. They sound so unique to me. Your recording quality is also top notch!
That last line though -- just in case the 'you' of the song was starting to feel too good, cut 'em down to size eh?
