Liner Notes

#pop

Another track written last month, recorded at the beginning of this one, that is kind of an elaboration on the previous tracks, Meet Me Halfway and Loser, but more romantic so my partner doesn't have to keep hearing me self-flagellate.

It felt right to drop these together as I see them all connecting and building off of one another, and I think I'm treating future songs this way as well.

Most of the lyrics are either self-explanatory, or something I'm keeping for me and my lady, but I will say once again that I am so lucky to have met my future partner at a time in our lives where we were the snottiest and awfullest. Honestly. Everything is gravy now. We can cut through the bs because we were there when we were obnoxious teenagers.

Thankfully it's hilarious now. In the moment, maybe not so much. Maybe even toxic and unhealthy and melodramatic. But now we laugh over all the weird and pointless fights we'd get in just because there was this misplaced and misunderstood tension bubbling underneath the surface. It wasn't all bad, of course, we trusted each other and always had each others backs, but still.

I'd do it all over again if it meant I'd end up here.

Thanks for listening, if you did.

Lyrics

Verse 1: I woke up on the Right side of yesterday, Dead sober cuz I'm Over all the headaches.

You were there before The heartbreak Broke me down.

At a party in the Corner feeling homesick, Playing Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robot With a drunk chick.

Coyotes barking on the Bridge when we Ran out.

Pre-Chorus 1: Oh, you know We're gonna make it. I'll bend your heart, But never break it.

Taking shots Of straight tequila. Running hotter Than a fever.

Chorus: You alone only know The parts of me That come out When I lose control

And I Know the parts of you That you hide.

You've pulled me up, You've watched me fall, You've helped me Write another chapter for the Writing on the wall.

Every side, You've seen it all.

Verse 2: Getting nosebleeds Flipping off the guardrail, Doing internet challenges As if you held my blackmail,

I'd be a fool Just to make you Laugh out loud.

Backstage we would Buckle under all the pressure Bicker like a couple Thinking one of us knew better.

It's kinda funny Looking back at us Right now.

Pre-Chorus 2: Oh, you know We're gonna make it. You'll bend my heart, But never break it.

Fractured bones And first impressions, Another balm For the depression.

You alone only know The parts of me That come out When I lose control

And I Know the parts of you That you hide.

You've pulled me up, You've watched me fall, You've helped me Write another chapter for the Writing on the wall.

Every side, You've seen it all. Oh, You've seen me Crawl.

Bridge: There could be a world Where we drifted And we both gave up, And it all could have been Gone and forgotten.

I'd still Crawl into my bed Knowing there would be a spot Without you.

I don't believe in fate Or the luck of the draw, But I believe that I belong Right beside you.

Blush and eucalyptus Climbing up the walls.

You alone only know The parts of me That come out When I lose control

And I Know the parts of you That you hide.

You've pulled me up, You've watched me fall, You've helped me Write another chapter for the Writing on the wall.

Every side, You've seen it all.

I could listen to this over and over. It just rolls along and delights me with the creative lyrics. Keeps things interesting the whole way through. The vocal feels just right and the music keeps me entertained. Great combination.

Great song. Deeper than #pop. Wonderful hooky lyrics and the production is spot on. I like the song structure you use with a pre-chorus, chorus, verse, bridge. The airy synth line is especially nice.

Any relation to "They never notice I don't / Stop crawling" 👀? I love all the connections through your music. Your highs are so good, so clear. This is such a sweet song. I love the synth on the second verse! Plunky. The harmonies are amazing! Really great work, you're putting together an epic album.

This is such a good groove - i love the production, the vocal layers, and the lyrics are super tight.
