Still debating whether this should be called "Let it Out" or simply "Let...". Feel free to, ahem, LET me know what you think. 😀

Edit: Thanks @newukenewyork for the title suggestion!

This song was prompted in part by @unknownbecky 's weekly song circle. Check it out, it's great fun all around!

Lyrics

Let it out Let it go Let yourself Lose control

It's easy to cling too tight Breathe deep And let go

Let it out Let it be Let yourself Set it free

It's okay not to change the world Breathe deep And let it out

Oh, this is gorgeous! The gentle fingerpicking and mellow, unhurried melody are so calming. When the major-seventh harmony kicked in, my shoulders unclenched and relaxed completely as I listened.

A fabulous song and song delivery with a wonderful message.

Yay, another Soundclick user! This is very nice, smooth and mellow. Great fingerpicking guitar, lovely vocals and when those harmonies come in... that's just the icing on the cake. Glad you Let It Out and recorded this. I really enjoyed it.

Magical song, singing and playing. Great message and delivery. Truly special. Love your singing, harmonies, playing.

It's hard for me to compare to the first uploaded version. However, I'm very happy, and my ears are very happy, to listen to this song again. Such a great song. I love love love what you've done here.

Second version I've heard of the song, having the pleasure of hearing it performed live at the song circle. Amazing song. Didn't realize it had so few words in it! but that totally makes sense as so much of the beauty comes from the instruments and construction. also what more could be said that wouldn't get in the way.

the song is so very ethereal and feels like slowly gliding through a dream. if we could all just meditate like this how different would the world be.

wasn't expecting the full band drop in toward the middle, interesting dynamic, but i really like the drop out with the mmmmmms over the top very much so.

I think the title is defiantly let is out, but that's just my half a cent opinion.

if i could change one thing on this version it would be to tweak those background echoes that are early in the song. i like the concept but it sounded a smidge off. otherwise a beautiful song, and you do the mellow indie pop like no one else. just you and guitar already make this one shine, and the added production with the drums and bass just gave it a new life and perspective. great job!

Great message. It is important to let go of all the stuff we strap ourselves with every day. The music is lovely and your vocals calming and beautiful. It truly has a healing vibe❤️

Oh, I’m so glad I found this song! It’s sublime. Love the message and the delivery. It all feels so soothing and encouraging at the same time. “It’s OK not to change the world”...what a perfect reassurance. Your harmonies are a marvelous bonus! Your talent is all over this!

Beautiful, Justin. Super happy to hear your voice again and especially for a song this lovely. Talk about minimalist! But you make every note worthwhile. Love when the harmonies come in. I'm probably wrong, but the drumming sounds jazzy to me. Fantastic first song for FAWM. More, more!

@oswlek

Thanks for checking it out, Doug. Yeah, it goes from minimal to maximal real quick. And then back again! I hope I have more in me, but FAWM inspiring this is worth it by itself in my book! :)

Justin! After such comprehensive and lovely comments, the least I could do was stumble over and listen to this... frickin' beautiful and meditative tune. Firstly, the guitar sounds lovely, very warm, lots of nice low mids. Beautiful melody - I see what you mean about having the vocal form a counter melody, I like how you're really drawing out each syllable against the picked guitar. Oh wow, and then the band comes in. Goodness, this is totally gorgeous, well done dude. I think I'm having a quasi-religious experience... that really is a great song, wonderfully executed. (and PS. tape hiss for the win!!).

Holy smokes. Not only do we get a new Justin song, but IMHO it's one of the most beautiful he's ever done, plus he's fired up the home studio for the first time in ages and tapped into his production wizardry. Even though Lo-fi acoustic one-take stuff is highly acceptable on FAWM and this piece would easily work superbly in that form, I'm chuffed to hear it taken to the next level. Extraordinary stuff, amigo.

@oswlek

I'm chuffed that you're chuffed, Jeff! You put up a good front, but I know your ear is a lot more adventurous and discerning than you let on. And you are kind enough to let me know when I miss the mark. 😊

"Let It" works for a title! So great to hear your subtle fingerplaying and smooth voice again! Lover how it steps up in production halfway through. Wonderful song.

@oswlek

Thanks. Mike. I'm glad you like it and appreciate the kick in. 🙂

Justin - there’s this thing that happens for me where the song is taking its own advice. I notice I often talk to myself in commands like “Relax” “Breathe” The song starts out in that space, but the music tenderizes the message and the breathing really happens. I suspect some of that is a looseness with the tempo, but at that part I’m floating and breathing not analyzing.

[pic]

I actually like “Let It” as the title. Beautiful melody here with a peaceful feel. The longer lines rise effectively and the shape of the song invites a pause.

Good to hear that expressive voice again! Clean production and well recorded guitar. I enjoyed that.

Damn, that clear acoustic tone right out of the box sounds fantastic. Beautiful playing. The echo on the vocals is effective. Love the lyrics. Good advice delivered for everyone. Oh man, what a changeup. Seems you are taking your own advice. Glorious... So great to hear this., Masterfully original and pure Oswlek. This has your unique fingerprints all over it. Crushed it. Such a lovely vocal performance.

I'm hoping we are gonna get more of this...Please...

@oswlek

Thanks, Rich. I always appreciate your thoughtful and generous comments. I'm sure you are busy, but the song got several coats of polish since being uploaded. To my ears it is much clearer and the middle hits harder. Hopefully you might have time to give it another spin at some point.

Lilly is still sitting with me, Fwiw. Such an impactful piece

This is the song I needed today. The message, the calmness, this super chill and comforting guitar. The ending is cool
