Liner Notes
Liz (@kahlo2013) is a consistently fine lyricist and I always enjoy contributing music to her words.
Liz says: Thanks Paul, for floating these lyrics on such lovely music that delivers them so perfectly. I’m so grateful for your collaborative partnerships over the years!!!
Lyrics
Thought about the days I left you behind Recalled moments I left without goodbyes Thought about the nights that I made you cry As I choked on the spit of bitter lies
Thought about the sad confusion Deep in your eyes
So I floated on blue lakes Sun drenched in thoughts of one too many mistakes Yeah, I floated on blue lakes Riding waves of deep regrets and heartaches All summer long....on my summer break
Thought about the times that I played around And the selfish untruths that put you down Thought about the hours that I couldn't be found With seductive schemes in nearby towns
Thought about my bad decisions That shook the ground
So I floated on blue lakes Sun drenched in thoughts of one too many mistakes Yeah, I floated on blue lakes Riding waves of deep regrets and heartache All summer long....on my summer break
Some say summers are for fools I know that to be true Can't forget what I did to you As I floated in lakes so blue
So I floated on blue lakes Sun drenched in thoughts of one too many mistakes Yeah, I floated on blue lakes Riding waves of deep regrets and heartaches All summer long....on my summer break All summer long....no it wasn't great

Well, I qualify for the later years, but I'm not sure I'm up to the Elvis standard. Thanks for offering that flattering comparison, though. And thanks, too, for all the listening that you're doing - three of my songs in a row!
Choked on the spit of bitter lies is so visceral. Then that floating that feels so escapist in the context. It all sounds so uncomfortable but the music makes it enticing. The attraction pf doing the wrong things again and again. Glad you are both back this year.
Thanks Nancy. I think I'm addicted to being here. Best of all, I get to work with some talented people and Liz is definitely on that list.
Beautiful song and collaboration. Fantastic lyrics, music, singing and playing. I love how connected the vocals are with the spirit of the lyrics. You are a great team!
Thanks for the lovely comment, Nadia. You're puffing up my ego!
If Liz approves, there will be a totally different song arriving from us tomorrow. Keep your eye out for it!
Paul thanks for you encouraging words on my recent Skirmish results "Surrounded with Love". I may end up renaming the song
HI Paul andd Liz, Another great FAWM collaboration. Lyric remind me of Augustine's Confessions which I have been reading. Really enjoyed the Chorus sections of your heartfelt take, Paul.
Thanks for taking "Blue Lakes" for a spin, Bill. Glad you liked it!
A beauty of a lyric from Liz and Paul gives them the perfect berth...loving the bvs!
Thanks for your kindness, Gwyn. I'll be watching for more of your songs, too.
Well done Paul & Liz! Very crafty combination of an upbeat summer music delivery that fits a sad fall lyrical message👏👏
Thanks again, James. Good of you to test drive another song that I've been involved in. More to come, so stay tuned!
Another great collaboration, Paul. I've always been impressed with @kahlo2013 's lyrics when I've heard them before. Really a fine, fine song! ❤️
Thanks Jerry. I agree that Liz is a fine writer. I always enjoy setting music to her words.
Wow, yes great collab - if I didn’t know I would have thought lyrics and music were by one person they go so well together. Love the phrase floated on blue lakes. @kahlo2013
Wow! That's a lovely compliment. Thanks for listening and responding.
great collab - a really complimentary arrangement and vocal melody to the lyrical content. the chorus Ooohs are particularly juicy in this Paul. Very thought provoking lyrics
Thank you, Celine. When you're given good lyrics, everything is easier.
Like the B. vocals on the chorus. So purposely dreamy... :-) Nicely done. enjoyed!
Thanks for the kind words, Dave. Looking forward to hearing your next song, too.
paul treats these fine lyrics as elvis, in his later years, might have approached them. there are phrases that i swear i hear elvis singing. the background vocals add to this illusion. its a perfect song, balancing lyric poetry with emotive music.
