Liner Notes
This is for the #all-about-the-bass challenge: Record a song with bass only.
I had some fun with vox adlibs at the end, but otherwise you get: -Bass for the beat -Bass for the bass -Bass for the melody -Bass for the sweetness -Bass for yo face!
Headphones recommended for all that B-aishe!

Oh Artie, you are full of surprises.
Love the funky breakdown in the middle, so delicious! This board disturbs me, I think a lot about that I used to own both of the original sans amps, and the amp that had one built in. Actually my favorite part of th song might be the title 😆
Love all the little bassballs notes in there. Funky!
Super cool! I did some bass-only songs in the last years but since sugery on my left hand I didn‘t play it anymore. This song could be a motivation to start all over again! I live your words here, too - telling a little own story! And i can imagine a lot while listening … 😃
My mans stole the funk and he's not giving it back
This is super cool! You really did a phenomenal job getting varied bass sounds (that bubbly little popping sound is particularly different and unexpected). The main walking bass tone is pure butter. And your vocals are an added treat, somewhere between Tom Waits and Barry White. I also appreciate the pic of your signal chain. Nifty.
Like the spoken word, which is great amid the bass. So cool! Great response to the challenge.
Nailed it! I was wondering how someone might go about this challenge, and here we are. Achievement well and truly unlocked 😁
Oh wow! The bass work and effecting is fantastic!
insanely cool!!!!!! aaaaa how did you make this 0.0 i love it i love it
cool....as cool..
Oh man I feel like I can live in this groove. All the sounds meld together nicely, and your deep vocals are a nice addition to the bass-only mix. Cool ear candy!
This is a really good take on the bass challenge!! Funny vocals as well. Very gory and I liked how you used the bass for all instrument sounds...
Fantastic. Such a great feel to it. How did you get this high pitched popping sounds. Great ideas but it’s the groove I love most. Excellent.
Thanks, man! It’s based off a muted slap technique that I saw Les Claypool do. You’re basically alternating slapping with both hands, one by the pickups and the other on the neck, while muting the strings. I ran that through my wah pedal to vary the frequencies and voila!
You jazzy ass cat, you. This was exquisite. No notes.
Thanks homie. It’s fun to be a jazzy ass cat on occasion. Most of the time I’m just a regular boring ass cat.
Love it! Hahaha the vocal adlibs make it!!
Bouncing at the start, love the walking bass coming in, and then it starts to get steamy. Think I need a cold shower!
This is soooo cool! The layered bass sounds are fantastic!
Bass players do it deeper! Dude, this is exquisite. Everything about this is just so... yummy. Bass for the win! Followed for more. 😄
@dragondreams run don't walk over here to this BASS BONANZA from @artie !
Thank you loads for the heads up! Listening now...
Dayum!!! I need a shower now! This is somewhere way out beyond SUPERB! I have honestly NEVER felt this way about BASS before! I don't even know how to describe how AWESOME this is! Great? Not enough. Excellent? Still not quite there. PERFECT? Yep, that's the one! Really amazing work as a stand-alone but to think you did this within the (severe) constraints of a one-instrument challenge? Consider me IMPRESSED!
I miss my super octave. This is sooooo good my god. You’re a mega talent. How’d you know I was touching you down there in my brain thoughts? All of my boxes are ticked…to completion
such bassy fun. so bouncy. you've convinced me to not be shy. where do i sign up?
Thanks for the listen and comment. The original thread is here: https://fawm.org/forums/3546?highlight=bass
I be groovin! Perfect song to play at work! You have brought me joy sir!
Oh man, this is what it sounds like when a real bass player creates one of these (I just cosplay at it). The build on this, the added textures as you go, and the overall smooth-ocity of it all coupled with the rich, deep, moanings ahahhhhhahhaahahha but in the best way.
I have no idea how you created the blobbing texture but this sounds rad!
Nadine, this was such a fun challenge! The blobby textured sound (that sometimes reminded me of water dripping from a tap) was created by using a slap technique while muting the strings, and running it through my wah pedal. And of course plenty of reverb!
this could use some more bass (jk this is the perfect amount of bass). this is a lot of fun. nice groove. i like the spoken stuff too. nice touch
So cool and bass! Best song so far at fawm for me. As bass fan this touches me. Small Morphine feeling in just needs that sax. 😆
Damn! That’s some chill bass noise going on there. You got yourself a relationship!
I started at “wow that’s so funky/oozy” and ended up at “What in the flaming starfish pants?” I feel like I walked in on something! 😳🤣
I like how you've stuck to the bass-ics here. grinduckrun
But seriously, this is really catchy and really cool.
I was so tempted to take on this challenge, my first instrument is the bass... In any case, this song is very bluesy and groovy! Congratulations on rising to the challenge with flying colors! Your voice is just perfect for this kind of song! I found it really fun, but also incredibly well performed!
