FULL DISCLOSURE: This demo was created with Suno. I understand if you don't like that; you can move on now.

This is based on a little chord progression I wrote 30+ years ago, soon after I moved to Seattle, and I was obsessed with Jimi Hendrix's album Cry of Love.

I played it on the acoustic along with some lyric ideas into Suno. I then use Suno for the production (I have a Premier Account and use the Suno Studio to work track by track).

Love bringing to life these ideas that have been floating around in my head for so long.

Great energy! Love the lyrics. I’ve used the Suno Studio some, but have been brining it back into my DAW to do final mixes… I may have to give the Suno Studio start-to-finish a try.

Super interesting, and it's a weird world we're living in. The sound and production is great, and the lyrics are solid -- but the AI stuff? It's super tricky. I use amp simulators and soft synths, so I can't pretend to be a purist. I dig what you've got here, and the AI is opening the door to get things out that would be locked in a notebook stuffed in a drawer otherwise. What's the right thing? God good, I do not know.

Really like the lyrics, the guitar solos and chord progression are excellent. If you're digging the freedom the Suno affords you, go on with your bad self and I'll be cheering you on. We live in the world we live in, and it's super freakin' weird, so let's rock and roll on the best we can!

This is a well produced song. It captures the Jimi vibe and the lyrics hint at his style.

I think it would be very interesting to 'show your work'; the original demo that you wrote and then showed how the robot cleaned up it. Sort of a 'before polishing' and 'after polishing'. I know I have to keep reminding myself of the fact that FAWM is a songwriting challenge, not a song production challenge. So I understand the pull to something like Suno.

Thanks for the listen. Last night I was deleting all the iterations I went through to produce this (which I do to keep my Library from becoming unwieldy), and was thinking the same thing, it would be fun to document the steps from my recording of me playing the acoustic, determining the style and feel, layering each track, and finally a finished product.

But, as you say, FAWM is really about the songwriting, not the production. I have a hard time splitting them in my process. I've done everything from strumming and singing into a simple recorder to full multitrack productions, and I just really like to flesh things out more.

A simple acoustic/singing rendition doesn't feel "done" to me (even though I love listening to others that do this). Years ago, I tried doing a solo acoustic thing, playing small bars, golf courses, etc., and it just wasn't my thing. I like playing in the band.
