Critique welcome on this song: Especially wanting blunt opinions on the mix.

Seems like I spent an age on this today, especially for a simple song. But I kinda like it. A good intro to an album, I'd think.

Things I used: Partial capo (strings 4, 5 and 6 on the 2nd fret) firefly acoustic guitar short scale squire jaguar bass superlux S241 small diaphragm mic samples for drums.

Lyrics

Welcome to the misfits To those who don't fit in Welcome to the creators To those who look within The doors are always open You're welcome to walk on through We'll raise a glass of this liquid And make a toast to you

Here the moon will shine on everybody We can watch as the shadows learn to dance

Welcome to the strangers Friends we have yet to meet Pull up a chair and join us Go ahead and take a seat Welcome to the outcasts To those with eccentric style Welcome to the introverts Join us for a little while

Here the moon will shine on everybody We can watch as the shadows learn to dance Here we'll wait to see the sun and its rising Here we're free to take another chance

Acoustic guitar sounds super fresh here.

Yep. Definitely a great welcome song. I laughed out loud at the line about a glass of this liquid because at that moment I was scooping liquid out if the stove vent in the first floor kitchen that had poured through the ceiling, walls and cabinets when the faucet handles exploded in the second floor bathroom. It sure was nice to have your reassuring company for the job. Glad you are back!

a fine and welcoming message! and the choice of instrumentation is perfect for this... is that just one track of guitar? (maybe you did a cut and paste doubling it with a little delay? great tone!) Nice vocal harmonies on the chorus, too!

Thanks for the comment, Mike. Just one guitar. The partial capo made a great drone sound. I think I'm gonna play with it a bit more it sounded so good.
