#acousticonetake #collab #television #friends Nancy: Reading these lyrics, reminded me of being on a camping trip with colleagues in the late nineties where they kept talking about Jerry and Elaine who I assumed were close personal friends of theirs. I love how television people become mutual friends of so many people. I listened to the Friends theme song a couple of times, to be influenced by it. Thank you, @williamh

It's funny how some TV shows achieve iconic status. That's Friends, though it was never clear to me how they could afford to live in such spacious apartments. Lovely vocals and guitar, and so #meta.

love the happy and feel good friendship vibes of the chorus and later verses. the constant hopping acoustic guitar pairs very well with that. "i'll be there for you, you'll be there for me / that's the way that friendships' meant to be" is a great line, and the delivery keeps on the mind. strong. obviously a call back to the friends theme by Rembrandts, so clever there.

i'm not a fan of the show friends, and i've obviously seem some of the show, but i can't help feel like i'm missing out on some of the source material to make sense of the first verse, which wouldn't be the end of the world if the rest of the song didn't have such a cool friendship theme and vibe to it. maybe it is essential to have the friends references due to the repeat at the end with "may reruns never end" because that is a very cool line. maybe i'm missing more references though.

i think nancy's mention in the liner about jerry and eliane makes me think expanding the theme while broadening the approach could make the song do more work for people that might not be in a particular fandom but still have access to the peripheral material. hmm... not the point of the song i guess, so great that you drilled into friends so specifically.

great job you two, fans of the show will undoubtably feel pangs of nostalgia and the treatment of the lyrics was very well done.

this brings back that whole "Friends" era to me. That show defined the times. although I was not a part of it in real time, a girl from work broght me the complete Friends boxed set and we watched together over a long span of time. nancy tkaes just the right musical and psychological attitude towards williams evocative lyric. and eve though i was a bit older than the friends crowd, they have found a place in my television imagination, and william and nancy's fancifal song reminds me.
