A little late getting this skirmish in, but I also started a little late, so still done in about an hour.

Our songwriting class assignment this week was to use parallelism in our lyrics, so this came in part from that assignment. The part of the skirmish prompt that got me was "Consequences" -- one of my favorite interpretations of the Norns in Norse mythology that I ever encountered was the idea of Skuld (generally thought of as the future) as consequences. Something about this feels like it allows for more agency in the weaving of fate -- the future is made up of the consequences of our past and present actions.

Using my beloved DADAAD tuning yet again.

Fun fact: according to the little database I keep of my songs, this is the 67th I've written this year, and the 400th since 2012, when I started dipping my toes back into songwriting after giving up for several years between adolescence and adulthood!

Consequences is a very cool take on the Norns. The Winter Tarot Deck reimagines the judgement card as consequences too and I love that flip as well. This is so pretty. It's so full of patience and faith, that's maybe a weird word for it, but it fits the best. Beautiful work here, friend!

I like your descending-line progression, and your chorus/refrain. What a great way to approach the skirmish! Good guitar work, too.

I admire the ambition of weaving together the startling and the philosophical. In the end, it works, and the tension between perspectives helped to hold my attention. Nicely done!
