Lyrics
I don’t remember being ten But I guess I was once upon a time Can’t remember way back then People say you were in your prime
Before you knew about the world Before you got interested in girls When all you had to do was play So different than it is today
We’d leave the house during the day Come back home when street lights came on No way of contact back and forth Just simple rules we had to obey
Don’t cross the main road by yourself Don’t get in a car with a stranger Don’t misbehave or get found out If you’re in trouble, just shout out
Now everyone surveys each other Our phones report our every move Kids rarely seem to play outside A whole world is undiscovered
I don’t remember being ten But I guess I was once upon a time Can’t remember way back then I guess we were in our prime

What a brilliant idea to create a nostalgic song! I don't remember being 10 either. I remember being 7, 11 and 12 but not 10... Very cool song, I can imagine people seeing in a circle, listening to each other songs, like an acoustic mic. Your song is intimate and at the same time very relatable. Beautiful music, lyrics, singing and playing.
Love your storytelling in this. Harmonies adds an extra special touch.
Wow two great songs for the prompt of one lol. Really enjoyed this too. It’s beautifully laid out, an easy story to get hooked into and follow. Love the harmonies too!
Great way to fold together the individual and community past to look at what has changed. I especially like the list of rules for the scene it evokes.
I remember going to stay with my gran all by myself for a week when I was probably about 10. We went walking in the forest every day and I amassed an impressive collection of sticks. I was devastated when I wasn’t allowed to take them home with me!! Lovely warm nostalgic feeling in your song.
Ah, those days! We all stayed outside all day long. This is great and brings back some good memories!
Another beautiful track, man. Nostalgia is gonna be a weird thing with Gen Z and Gen Alpha (and so on) with having every trivial picture and video from the beginning of their lives saved in "the cloud".
