Liner Notes

#skirmish #funandgames #sports #lyricsonly. This one may drop my batting average to just above doggerel, but it was an intriguing prompt, and here's the first stab. What's the game? How do you play it? So many choices - and will you play with me? Addendum: So, it's Patriots-Seahawks tonight, and I'm prioritizing Games over Music (FAWM) and won't get around to doing my own demo for a while. But, here's an #AI version as a placeholder until I do get around to my own production.

Lyrics

Hey, Will You Play With Me? (c) 2026 raspberry33

Verse 1: So many to choose from; we have to pick one Debating the options is not having fun Targets or goalposts or surface of play Or maybe less physical, I could go either way.

Scrabble or solitaire, depends on your mood One player games, though, strike me as rude Is it all random chances, or do you want strategy And how do you celebrate victory?

Chorus: Hey let’s play… and then we’ll know the score Hey let’s play… we’re not kids anymore Though we’ll never gonna make to the majors But for now, we can still pursue that fantasy,

Verse 2: Pigskins or hardballs, shuttles or pucks Bash with a wooden bat or line up your ducks Parquet or Astroturf, red Georgia clay Put on your fan gear, home or away

Bridge: Is it chance or strategy or somewhere in-between? Are there hidden clues, or can everything be seen? If a touchdown scores six, why does a field goal get three? And those love, set points still mystify me…

Verse 3: OK, board games tomorrow, football tonight A super-bowl rematch would be all right But watching’s less fun than playing, I think So grab a few beers, and we’ll watch while we drink.

Chorus: Hey let’s play… and then we’ll know the score Hey let’s play… we’re not kids anymore And we’re never gonna make it to the majors But for now, we can still pursue that fantasy,

Final verse: Between working and sleeping, we chew up the day And yet it’s important to find time to play Card games, field games, net games and more The value’s in playing, not only the score And the friends we make…. Hey, Will you play with me? Hey, Will you play with me?

A little edit - I see below now that it's computer generated music so I'll stick to commenting on the part that you created - I like all of the myriad game-day allusions and imagery; this is the perfect time of year in the USA with all the school-based sports starting up to be thinking about games

Thanks. I'm balancing the realities of skirmishing at a busy time of the year with my reluctance to cheat with computers. Though I do try to program stuff I could actually sing and play. But it would take me 5 hours or more to lay down the tracks, sing 243 takes to get it right, and then mix and master. Thanks for the feedback - that'll push this up the list for eventual home-brew production.

Oh wow!!! This is a great set of lyrics with a bucketful of great couplets. I hope this one gets music it deserves it!!

I generally forgive people for their sports allegiances… still, go Seahawks!!

Well, it was a playoff-intense game, albeit sloppy. 13-10 Seahawks. But a good watch. And, there's now a placeholder with AI generated music while I nurse my sorrows at the Patriots' loss.

Great skirmish idea! Fun to read and think about and clever!

Thanks! I loved your post as well, and am tossing around ideas for a possible collaboration. But not tonight - Patriots vs. Seahawks on TV!
