#skirmish #penumbra #instrumental #ambient #synthwave #psychedelic Here's one where I just sat down with GarageBand and layered synth parts (six if you're counting). A penumbral eclipse is when the earth blocks sunlit from hitting the moon, causing two shades: one dark (umbra) and the other faint (the penumbra). I had to look it up... Kinda like the TikTok musical note logo. Song & production copyright 2066 raspberry33

This is a very nice mix. Relaxing sci-fi space soundscape. It took me a while before I 'got' the rhythm, but slowly but surely, it settles into place in my mind. It's like a journey through the galaxy. I like how all the sounds seem to 'breathe'. This adds so much depth.

Good catch on the rhythm - that was a skirmish-time decision when I accidentally chopped off the first measure. Then decided the ambiguity might work. GarageBand has x-y plots on some synth sounds that let you manipulate them real-time while recording, which gives some energy to an otherwise static patch. Always liked synths with expression wheels for that reason. Thanks for the kind comments.

Thanks. I used to use ProTools, but when I switched from PC to Mac, I didn't feel like paying for the crossgrade. GarageBand has a lot of hidden features to discover, but more importantly it's way more user-friendly than one of the high-end DAWs. And for what I do, that's the sales pitch!

Really good job using GarageBand like this. I also hear the SciFi movie sequence in this. Nice!

I love the drone like chimes and the momevent of the keys - wonderful layers of sound that intrigue and delight me.

I liked this from the off. I liked the evolving textures and the underlying beat keeping it all together.

There are echoes, at points, of Terry Riley - but anyone with a synth is influenced by him, even if it is subconsciously. The piano melody adds form and takes it into a more melodic world.

Overall, I can really imagine this as a soundtrack on an SF Film. I made it to the chimes and applauded.
