Draft 3 of September 2026 Song Sprint

This is one of the (47 remaining) 51 lyrical drafts I had left over after July's 5/9. I will try to complete a few more of those here before our time runs out.

Here are my original liner notes:

I told my husband this was too a good title to pass up, even though I know I am welcome to watch the games with him and occasionally do. I just love his enthusiasm for playing and watching and supporting international teams. He has made so many friends through football and he’s a great guy, so I can’t be mad at how World Cup obsessed his schedule currently is.

Very funny and accurate, from what I can tell (no dedicated sportsball fans in our household). Love the upbeat tempo and the attitude!!

Great song - and as an Englishman I would say Dan has his head screwed on almost right - but he needs to be putting more effort into indoctrinating Sebastian

Awww, silly and sweet! So many fun turns of phrase here, 'bright tops of cleats as they flash on the feets' tickled my brain so much. The breakouts into runaway phrases are really fun.

Great singing and playing!! Such a good title. I'm lucky that I'm not really into football (even though I'm from the UK)... But I do tend to watch some world cup matches.. I have friends that are devoted to the game.

I have seen fans wake up fo 6 am on a weekend to watch games. these fans are seriously dedicated.

It is indeed a superb title! Brilliantly delivered (like the Andys, I have family who could relate 😂). My favourite bit was the uptick in pace for the Chinatown lines going into the very cool bridge section. I loved watching the World Cup, but was also kinda glad when it was over. It was A LOT. Great write!

Thank you very much! Yeah, we were for part of it, so he had to get creative to see a few of the games he wanted to see. I think he was a little relieved when it was over.
