Another sprint-inspired "one take vocal"--but I've learned this session (SEE? Sprints ARE worthwhile!) that my ageing voice sounds a lot better if I double track. And, by the way, that double is NOT a "second track"--I take the first track, put it into Melodyne and EDIT the pitch (a tiny bit) and the timing and--voila!--it's a decent sounding double. You can barely tell that it's an old man crying out for his bottle of pills... I hope you enjoy the song!

Love that clickety electric guitar and the beautiful vocals. The song istelf is bursting with melancholy melody and atmosphere. Lovely!

This is a really touching heartfelt feeling song with lyrics that reach in deeply. I like the vocal effect. Flows beautifully.

this has similar poetic qualites as bob lind's elusive butterfly. good capture of the change in life that a break up brings. as for doubled vocals, i always triple mine, and ad reverb to one of the tripled tracks, that way i get some thickening without reverbing the thing to death. also i reduce the volume of the reverbed track, sometime i make five tracks and use to for echo and chorus, one panned left, the other panned right and both turned down low . i rarely mix. the guitar and vocal are always on the same track. i only add additional traks if i am added a guitar or harmonica part.

I’ve always loved your voice, Jerry, still very much do, doubled or not. “One daybreak at a time” is a fabulous turn of phrase. In fact, that whole chorus is brilliant. Top work :)

I loved the sound from the very start. Get, Lennon invented a vocal double because he didn’t want to record a second. I’m all for that (and have a cheap double pedal myself. The vocal sounded great and would fit right into any 70’s hit. You’ve obviously got the one take thing down. I do not, LOL Beautiful song top to bottom!

Brilliant write! Top of the list of best songwriters here. I always double my vocals and my producer coach (Fred) now has me doing a triple with one stereo, one panned left and one panned right with my effects only on the stereo track.

Jerry - these are gorgeous heartbreaking lyrics. So visual and visceral. Thanks for explaining your process- vox sounds great. I particularly like the thoughts in your chorus.
