Liner Notes

Perhaps it is a little wishful thinking, but a humid Wisconsin summer had me dreaming of wide, welcoming expanses of snowy hills. Here's my dream in song form. I'm inspired by the hope for gentler, cozier days, and images of comforting and playful times.

Truth be told, the first sketches of this song appeared back in July during our first FAWM song sprint of the summer. It took this long and several written drafts later to bring this closer to feeling ready to share :)

I'm beyond grateful to my bandmates @bearwith who contribute such wonderful talent and fullness to our work/play together! The only thing better than a playful day of sledding is a day of sledding with friends! That's sorta how this whole songwriting process feels to me!

Blankets of love....I love it! Thank you for the very kind comment :)

Lovely trumpet in the intro, then the transformation into the main part of the song made me feel so good, sort of a Mamas & Papas vibe. You folks sing so well together, I enjoyed listening very, very much!

Ah, thank you so much for your kind words! I love the Mamas and the Papas and their harmonies, so that is a very kind comparison! And a special thanks for the trumpet call out, I really am happy with how my part turned out there!

the song's title describes not only the lyrical content, but the musical feel.i imagine leagues of angelic figures treading lightly on snowy white clouds int thir ascent to a better world. the trumpet makes me feel like a child cradled in mother's arms,

Awe thank you for the beautiful comment! I especially appreciate your kind words about the trumpet playing :)

@oswlek

Pure class. That trumpet makes for a brilliant open and I can't tell you how much enjoyment I got out of that surprise F# major at the end of the progression. 😎

The melody is divine. It feels like it's doing a loving walt with the instrumentation. Switching to more legato delivery at the end of the stanza was just the right change at just the right time. It makes the similar chord progression feel fresh and new. And perfectly tees up that F# I love so much! 😄

Fantastic stuff.

Thanks so much for the kind words! The chord progression that @dmelbygibbons came up with was one of my favorite things about this the first time he shared the song! I think we are all very happy with how it turned out!

What a lovely song to listen to as my first of the morning here where we never really see a winter! Just so professionaly put together! a lot of work goes into making things seem simple

Awe thank you! I had to dobule check where you are from...Queensland AU. Wikipedia tells me it's subtropical humid, so that checks out! The changing of the seasons has quite the beauty, and winter is pretty sublime (for a little bit anyway). I hope you've had the chance to experience it at some point in your life! Thanks much for the kind words on the song :)

I live where we get several months of winter each year and I'm not fond of the season at all. Then I hear this smoothly delivered song and it makes me think I should reconsider the season.

Beautiful melody, well sung. I've commented on another song about @wynia's lovely trumpet. My appreciation of her tone and playing still stands. Love the cello pizzicato, too. All round, a great song.

I mean, by February's time, we all may not have such warm fuzzies about winter as we do now when it is basically an abstract concept! Thank you so much for the shoutout on our musical instrumental elements, it is very kind of you to say

Now I'm looking forward to a fun filled winter of sledding on the snow and hearing the laughter of all the neighborhood kids. Lovely tune, everyone did an amazing job with their parts in this.

I mean, after a long stretch of 90s it is fun to imagine what winter will bring us! Thanks for the kind words :)
