In case they don't exist in the country you are listening in, two of the big pizza chains here in Catalonia are Dominoe's Pizza and Telepizza.

In the 1930s Catalonia was one of the most radical places on Earth. Bars in those days would have been rife with revolutionary fervour. Change was in the air as Spain voted to abolish its monarchy and replace it with a Republic.

Sadly, Franco, Mussolini and Hitler soon put a stop to that.

Today the conversations in the bars and streets are very different. The Republicans of 1934-39 must be spinning in their graves.

I think there is probably another verse to write to justify the title. But maybe the point is already made.

Never know, they might have spent all day talking politics and need a break. But I do wish I heard more meaningful conversations and less trivia. Part of why I hang out with filkers and fawmers.

In Canada, Dominos is the worst quality pizza you can buy. But cheap.

I love the insightful observation that led to this song or idea. You develop it well. One could have a political argument around Domino’s Pizza, given the founder is a very conservative individual who supports several what would be considered right wing agendas. Domino’s Pizza started in Ann Arbor, where we lived for almost 18 years, and we definitely saw and felt the impact from a political perspective. At the same time his investment in the community was significant and positive in many ways.

wow, what an astute and penetrating observation---and in this consumer culture, yeah, sadly I think there's more strong feelings about all the stuff that doesn't matter.... tho i guess I console myself with the fact that to some extent it was always this way... meanwhile, great song, well done!

I feel like it's probably topical about everywhere these days, in the future we'll be feeling like arguing about pizza choices was much better than whatever we'll be arguing about then.

The people like those two guys will still be arguing about pizza until the bombs come raining down. Sigh... Orwell was so right about controlling language (and the press) means controlling society.
