Copy In A Dream

I guess this is about living in someone's mind rent free while they sleep. They have this idea of you, this duplicated version of you. That version is like a puppet running through their crazy dream, but they feel like it's real.

Lyrics
hopping over a rusty turnstile don’t trust my double vision past the past, the burn pile never mind the time it’s gonna take me i seem to rewind, changing probability but i’ll get there one way or another
all this pressure i’m buried under doing everything that i can to take his place but there’s an undertow in your brain’s flow state
free-running through the city it’s a shitty night
between a hard place and a heavy rock i’m racing against a broken clock
my veins are gonna pop heart is gonna stop better grab the mop to clean up when i drop but little do you know that i’m running through your mind
and this ain’t he...
i’m just a copy that you designed (just a copy in a dream) muscles tighten then release (just a copy in a dream) this simulate doing what you please (just a copy in a dream) a version that never used to be (just a copy in a dream) duplicated doppelgänger freed

Ah thanks! I may start doing like a distrokid thing here soon I dunno. No one goes to my bandcamp page but, I will probably put more there soon anyway. The instrumentation was just fun to do. I think it's the easiest, for me, making music from the perspective of texture and movement and I think that's why the music inspires the words 99% of the time. In this one, first line is basically what I tried to do with the sound "hopping over rusty turnstile".. = bouncy and kinda rusty sounding, double vision is like the doubled effect on the vocals, the burn pile is like the overdriven rhythm guitar.. I don't really start out on that vision but I start to see that take shape and it's part of how something starts to come together to create the vision or whatever. I'm nerding out.
i go to your BandCamp page 🤘🙂. i have the Built to Survive album. :) so, keep nerding out!!!
Oh cool! I slowly remastered those I should update them, they sound better now.. I think.
Yeah, love this. Love the dream sound/feel of it, running thru a dystopian city landscape. And esp. how the lyrics match the energy -- vivid, frantic, and even funny ("better grab the mop"). I really love everything about this!
It's funny when I did that better grab the mop part I kept thinking of snoop dog. I dunno why. I just heard him rapping that part for some weird reason. Thanks for the kind words I'm glad you dug it. I've really been on this dream kick lately like I need to write about other things.
So much happening in this, at all times. Almost chaotic but held together by the energy and the short pop-format. Super intense and fun and I really like those complementary higher pitch vocals. Intriguing pedal collection too!
That's the hard part for me.. trying to keep what's is most important and not over doing it but I do like to push it. You do a great job of that.. you have so much texture and sound in your songs but you create these complimentary focal points even if there's an undulation to what's going on..
Glorious riff - this absolutely rockets along and that mix just pulls in the listener and takes them along on a guitar-intensive thrill ride. Fun to see all the pedals involved, too - that's a nice collection, put to very good use!
Awesome! Glorious I will take ;) Just trying things and hoping it works out. I have been using the EH C4 pedal a lot because I am not a great keyboard player so that's my work around. Thanks for the great comment :)
what a great sound. and song. digging that drum machine. the vocals (and bgv's) are excellent. love the instrumentation. kinda has a mix between a punk-Bowie and wired and tripped out Traveling Wilburys. I'd buy a whole album of this music and trip out! awesome! please bandcamp this!
