Skirmish: fly (@melodic)Liner Notes
A thinly veiled dissection of a dear loved one 😉
Instrument Yamaha FG 180 (bought in 1971 it gets sweeter every year)
Lyrics
Hannah
VS 1 She's the fly in my ointment But the apple of my eye She can be a disappointment When she doesn't really try There are days when I can't stand her Then those days I will forget And come right back to loving her Without a sole regret
CHORUS She's chaotic and despotic She's neurotic as can be Could be certified psychotic Guess she gets that trait from me But she's exotic and hypnotic When she turns on the charm Even when she frustrates me I'd never wish her any harm
VS 2 Tidiness is a concept that She's never understood Her room looks like the burglars Have gone over it real good There's pizza boxes on her bed Delivered there last week With what's left of the contents That have now begun to reek
CHORUS
VS 3
She claims all of her faults Are down to her ADHD Rejects the links I send her Showing how she could be free There is no point in arguing At that she is a whizz I guess I've got no option But to love her as she is
CHORUS

Yep. When they are flesh and blood you forgive so much you wouldn't put up with from strangers or friends. 😉
The music is really delightful! Hearing all of the rhymes in the chorus and the humor in the verses is so much fun!

Hi Folks thanks for your comment on my song "Hannah" - it was lyrics only after the skirmish, but it has now been "demoed". I hope you give it a listen.
I can relate to this character! Your second verse cracks me up. And I really love that well throughout chorus.
Thanks. I hope to record a demonstration soon
Some interesting rhyme combinations and clever wording here. I was drawn to the title because my old boss's daughter, whom I am working for temporarily again, has a daughter named Hannah. She has some issues as expressed in your lyrics.
LOL send a link to your old boss! 😉
Ahh.... teenagers. Been there.
This tells a quite evocative story. Great visuals.
Thanks... But Hannah is nearer thirty than twenty!!! 😔
love the "fly in ointment" take on the prompt. Your lyrics tell a great story about a person who is loved. Well done.
Thanks. I am awaiting her epiphany that will change everything.... Hope springs eternal.
What a great portrait you have painted! So visual and wonderful!
Thanks, Cindy. I sometimes wish she wasn't any of those things. But would she still be her???
I love songs with all those comparisons and statements about feeling! I like you sort of spit them out! In no doubt what the character is like - and yet we still often love them!
