Skirmish: RUNAWAY (@corinnecurcio)Liner Notes
#skirmish #runaway. Oh, man, it's 3:57 EDT and I just barely finished lyrics, so the demo will need to be posted later. Warning - it's political, though names and grifts have been redacted to protect the guilty. Update 5:40 PM - demo now posted; my vocals and keyboards with some help from Suno for the backing track.

Maybe I am reading too much between the lines, but I hear this as trying to gain actual momentum from repeating thoughts, and all the difficulties that naturally arise from that strategy. I like the power-pop treatment and the way it brings out the breathless trial-and-error angle in the lyrics.
Thanks! In the back of my mind, I was thinking about the "flood the zone" strategy of endless whack-a-mole scandals. Recent floods in Nepal. And how it's so easy to get caught up in the flood of mis-information and hand-waving. As with all skirmishes, the lyrics were done in less than an hour, and that doesn't leave enough time to really think about whether they all make perfect sense. I like the idea of gaining momentum from repeating thoughts, but this was more about stopping for a moment before diving into absurd conclusions. Like gasoline will be $2 a gallon and the war will only take a week.
listening now- what a fantastic demo and a well thought out song! really engaging and engrossing. 'lost in a fog of patriotic games' is a great line and i'd love some more specificity on things like that, but that's just me, perhaps! really well done and the demo has lots of nice stuff going on.
Hey, Mike - good to see you at FAWM again! And thanks for the comments. "Lost in a fog" is an unsubtle reference to the UFC claw, Freedom 250, and draping everything in bunting so we forget about the Strait of Hormuz, rising gas prices, and the Epstein Files. Then again, I was envisioning the potential video and might have lost track of letting the lyrics stand on their own.
Oh this is really great - love the great use the lyrics! Really fabulous use of the prompt and wonderful use of familiar idioms to deliver a compelling message. Awesome musical decisions and direction. Great sound and groove!
I love love-love the use of idioms and metaphors in song lyrics. So this really hits it for me. I threw a couple in my effort as well, but you wrote a master class! I especially like the line "look down, see the cesspool we're standing in." Paints a vivid picture.
Everything here is great--lyrics, vocals and I LOVE the music bed. Terrific job! ❤️
