Re: the idea; been reading The Complete Father Brown Stories by G. K. Chesterson. Wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm charmed. It's like reading a cute little #ghost-story before bed every night. Houses and hedgerows on the edge of dark woods feature prominently.
Re: the audio, I've packed my DAW. There's a loose guitar here, but I can't really play it. A real run through will await another day.

What a nice thought about harmonies! It's true, that song already became a friend. I've got no studio magic with me right now, but I was singing it around the house last night. I hope it gets produced some time :-)

I read some of those "Father Brown" stories in grade school and then a BUNCH of them in my early 20s. Love them. Pretty sure there was some Father Brown tv series along the way. Always interesting to look over someone's shoulder while they're creating--although I think a look over mine would be pretty boring for folks... ❤️

Your liner notes mention a ghost story quality and I'm playing with "border/boarder" as I read the lyrics & it adds an extra layer of danger & dread.
I like that image of a "single spoon of will" as it suggest a clear understanding of one's limits in that regard and protecting it, lest it all be used up in one rash moment, but then a hopeful thought that it can grow again if left in it's starter jar.
"...the one who knows the rest..." expands the world of the song beyond it's (oh, hell...) border so that I'm self-consciously looking over my shoulder to see who's watching.
"boarder," I love that! Had a feeling there was more to the story than I had yet perceived.
