Liner Notes

#folkrock First skirmish, one verse to get started.

Lyrics

Just like a writer Fills up the page A dancer Every corner of the stage Every color Is a number I know well That could be The story that I tell

I have all the colors true to life Every colored pen All the words to say what happened And what happened then Thirty spices in a rack And more to recommend Another day See for yourself Neutral again

I really like this:

Every color Is a number I know well

The song is such a vivid snapshot. Great word painting.

That's some mighty fine painting. So vivid and visual.

Oh that second verse just drips with sadness and loneliness. Does your narrator also have synesthesia. "Every colour is a number" - or is that more a "paints by numbers" reference?

Colors as numbers may be familiar to visual designers working in the digital RGB color space. I originally wrote “RGB” (red green blue) then rewrote after deciding that was too technical. But synesthesia is close to the point, wishing for variety in color and everything else, but settling for the defaults.
