Free Bird

Liner Notes
If you sing in public, you'll occasionally encounter someone who thinks they're being hilarious and original by asking for "Free Bird! Free Bird!" We were joking about this at an open mic a couple of nights ago, so I decided that I'd better have one ready for next time...
This wasn't intended to be anything other than meaningless nonsense, but I think a meaning has emerged by accident from the #ukulele based #nerdfolk.
Lyrics
I'm getting far too old to act my age But still you have me locked up in a cage There's two of us, they've only got one stone So let me make it on my own
No longer will I wait for clearer weather No longer will I let you ruffle feathers It's time to let me put it to the test And flee the nest
I'll be your free bird Let me fly away I'll give you my word I'll fly back some day
I know you wish you still had one in hand But in the bush you have to understand I'm no chicken and I hear the chorus sing Time to spread my wings
I'll be your free bird Let me fly away I'll give you my word I'll fly back some day
We'll start anew Enjoy the view
I'll be your free bird Let me fly away I'll give you my word I'll fly back some day
I'll fly back some day

this would be a wonderful response to a request for freebird. and it also works as a stand alone song, without the musical reference. i like the big sound you get on the chorus with your added harmonies
What an incredible way to start your sprint. You had me from the first line, I'm getting too old to act my age. I must confess that I sang along to the instrumental break. If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me? It scanned perfectly. Bon sprinting
Nice solid intro! great opening line! Got a really nice flow to the whole song! nice harmonising as well! and hey who doesn't love FMaj7 . Really nice song!
You’re going to have to plant someone in the next open mic crowd to utter the dreaded heckle, because this deserves to be played - both as an excellent response, but also it’s thoroughly beautiful in its own right. Lovely harmonies (you should do more of those!), and the piano adds loads without being domineering. I also love how you get such a different feel to the last lines of the verse and chorus, just by switching from a major 7th to the minor. Very subtle and clever songwriting there, kudos mate!
