@nateger @savvyaz sent me this voice memo of a terrific melody and that kickstarted this whole song! I tried to fit some words to the melody to the best I could and this narrative between a man and woman emerged. Dysfunctional love, bitterness, staying with someone was passed the expiration... It was a ton of fun of get both of our vocals together to make it a dialogue. Very 80s with a touch of the Baroque w/ the Dulcimer sample. At first there were no drums but at the last minute I thought some heavy hitting 80s drums would bring this home. The original voice memo shows up at the end except its pitched up 2 octaves.
Savannah: I really love Nate’s original acoustic guitar version of this song, but wow! Now I’m in love with this amazing ‘80s take! Nate sent over the lyrics for the first three sections where he had written lyrics from the girl’s point of view. I added on the next two sections from the guy’s point of view. He tweaked them a bit and then added a cool duet third verse.
