Live Side
Liner Notes
I wanted to do one more. But life has been super busy. I wrote this yesterday and spent a lot of time on the production. Hours for a 1:30 minute song. But it was worth it. I had so much fun. I also wanted to do a ukulele song. I always do one.
It felt very Beatles to me so I leaned into that. Lyrically I see so many meanings but since I thought it was fun and cool I want to share some ideas I put in the chorus. The chorus reminded me of the ending/intro to "With A Little Help From My Friends," where they sing "Billy Shears." So I thought it would be fun to throw in a nod. That's why I wrote "Will" and "Heal" to approximate "Billy" and I threw in "Shears" to complete it. Then I thought about the whole "Paul is Dead" theory and the backwards messages on The White Album, like "turn me on dead man." The magazine cover saying "Paul is Alive" is where I got the song title. That's also where I got "Looks like the same" since Billy Shears was meant to be Paul's lookalike.
This FAWM has been the most fun I've had making music in a long time. I love this community. Now it's time for me to go listen! #ukulele #pop #psychedelic #vocals #atmospheric
Lyrics
Verse 1
Why is it taking so long I don’t know why it’s taking so long To get there
It was going so strong But now it’s dawn, and you are so gone It’s unfair
Chorus
Can you turn me on to the live side Will you heal the shears from the big lies I’m tired of spinning the messages backwards I want to get to the heart of the matter
Verse 2
Now it looks like the same How could it look, look like the same Old story
I, I wanted the truth But it was moot, it never took root No glory

Thank you!!! Yes I put an accordian at the end! I was hearing one in my head and it adds such a vibe to the end. There's also an oboe!
I, I wanted the truth But it was moot, it never took root No glory
This is a GREAT lyric. This whole song is an absolute bop - just beautifully produced with so much going on. Did I hear an accordion near the end or was I just hearing things? Either way, I loved it!
