This is a magnum opus from me and my friend Andy. We started the song idea years ago, worked on it a little last time i was in LA and finally finished it this afternoon! Maybe we'll release it when he finally gets his solo act together. This was hella fun, I got to feel like a rockstar and belt and stuff. Bonus points if you know what "mercy my jewels!" is a reference to 🥹
Lyrics
Just like a laser makes a cat freak out You've given me something to cry about Just like a mummy buried in the sand You pressed the sacred knife into my hand
I should have known that I would be the fool, Putting the poet on a pedestal Like the water from the rain I find comfort in the pain I'm a laser cat again
In all the parties and the fancy and cocaine There was music, There was dancing in the rain
When the hour came like anything The hour of my reckoning
I should have took the cash and vanished in the night Instead I found myself enchanted by the light
When the crash finally happened, I was on another planet
Mercy, my jewels!
Just like a laser makes a cat freak out You've given me something to cry about Like a stormcloud in the sky That's how much you make me cry Like the way that raisins shrivel I have none to spare for spittle!

Quite an epic allegorical tale, and the music matches it! The vocals are beautiful, in contrast with the cacophony of the break, and the squawking (very glam) sax. It's an instant classic!
Love the meows. That’s a cool concept to anchor the song, “I’m a laser cat again.” Again, super cool chord changes that I wouldn’t normally expect or anticipate. Combine that with all the nicely placed layers of percussion and harmonies, and it’s no wonder your songs always sound so fresh.
