Liner Notes

This is one I've spent a lot of time on, but I've also really been avoiding it. Happy for the hour long push to at least get a workable demo :)

I've never worked with autotune this way. Still got a lot to learn, but the obvious autotune is intentional

Lyrics

1 AM uninvited in my head Can't sleep so it's time to play pretend I've won you back a thousand times On repeat inside my mind

Cause I can't stop myself I need some help

No I haven't been quite myself Kinda feeling like I'm inside out And I know what it's all about I'm losing sleep now Must be out of my mind Cause I try this Every damn time

Out of sight Out of mind Why is it Such a fight?

Blocking all your posts don't work Don't know what to do Still can't leave the house Without hoping I bump into you Desperately want to see you again But I'm seeing my damn therapist instead

Not trying to replace you I'm trying to erase you Not trying to regret you I'm trying to forget you

I'm trying to forget you

3 AM still there, I beg for light Can't resist playing back our final fight Could have won you back a thousand times If I only said these lines

And I can't stop myself I need some help

No I haven't been quite myself Kinda feeling like I'm inside out And I know what it's all about I'm losing sleep now Must be out of my mind Cause I try this Every damn time

Out of sight Out of mind Why is it Such a fight?

Blocking all your posts don't work Don't know what to do Still can't leave the house Without hoping I bump into you Desperately want to see you again But I'm seeing my damn therapist instead

Not trying to replace you I'm trying to erase you Not trying to regret you I'm trying to forget you

I'm trying to forget you

And I can tell myself that I've moved on Yet here I go, again I have let myself be carried away To the land of Could Have Been

So baby why don't we go To a place that only I know A place to build a home A place to call our own We'd be happy If you would just follow me Out of my dreams

Out of sight Out of mind Why is it Such a gaddamn fight?

etc.

I really like this! Great job! It has a really nice feel to it! Your vocals sound great! I really like that chorus melody! Very honest and relatable lyrics. You really do a great job challenging yourself to these 1 hour skirmishes. Great performance!

This one was definitely not done in an hour. It's one I had been working on and I took the prompt quite literally to finish it. No more hemming or hawing (for now), which is my fatal flaw

1 hour or 30 years. If it sounds good who cares how long it took. Just keep rocking your music! 🙂

I like the way you varied your vocal tempo in different sections. It's quite attention grabbing. Good work.

This song really shows the care you've taken with it. The structure, the melodies that swirl into one another, the catchy rhythms and rhymes. Esp. like desperate to see you/therapist instead lines, the replace/erase/regret/forget sequence, and the head-fake false ending. I feel like I'm in very good hands while listening to this song, smooth and professional.

this is such a fun beat, and such a relatable emotional story in the lyrics. I really like the speedier vocals in the "blocking all your posts don't work" spot. the autotune really matches the vibe also.

Anyone who has been there, and I know there are many of us, can relate to this totally, those one AM and 3 Am check ins with ourselves. But it's universal because...love is a literal addiction with literal withdrawals. It's a scientific fact, I discovered many years ago. You recreated the experience perfectly with your lyrics and vocals. The autotune was used really effectively as was the repetition of selected lines. This is really good~

Really sick drum beat - loved how you started it by playing on the rims. Never used autotune, but it actually sounds pretty cool.

What a beautiful song musically and lyrically. My favorite part was when you sang about all the things you were trying to do, -"replace you" "erase you" "regret you" "forget you." Your repeating "trying to forget you" over aand over is something that one would repeat in their head to get the idea to sink in, but ironically the repetition shows how the one you're trying to forget about is just endlessly on your mind. Very expressive and I was touched by this. I like the voiceover near the end too.

This sounds so full and the autotune is used well. I like how it flavours the vocal instead of overpowering it. You are obviously having fun with the tech. The doubled voices sound terrific!
