Choosing to Care
Challenge: VOCAL CALL, INSTRUMENTAL RESPONSELiner Notes
I had a different idea for the call and response challenge, but I couldn't quite get my voice and guitar to cooperate. But I kind of like this little #animist bit of work that I landed on. Guitar is once again in DADAAD.

Lyrics
Today I feel small and uncertain The world feels like nothing but flames There's so much that's broken and hurting When the fires go out, what ashes remain?
Tonight I will laugh with my demons Stand up in the face of despair I don't need a great cosmic reason Nothing can stop me from choosing to care
{Instrumental Verse}
Tomorrow I'll dance with the shadows Prismatic, refracting the light I may be finite, but I know Every being reflects the divine

Beautiful. And an excellent one take!
Lovely lyrics. I especially like the last verse.
Beautiful! I love the line about laughing with your demons/not needing a cosmic reason, choosing to care. It’s a beautiful idea and something we need more of. Some of my favorite guitar work from you on this too!
Interesting choice here because a few well known singers who have a similarity to you use this tuning or DADGAD! a fine lyric again and such an unrushed feel to the delivery
Oof -- that first stanza. Amazing. Perfect. And I love the transition from laughing with demons to dancing with shadows. This is beautiful thoughout. (And I need to call out that cool chord choice in the last lines, too.)
Gosh, I feel you with this. The guitar is so lush sounding, it definitely is lending it's voice to your lovely song. A needed reminder in these times.
Cool tuning - I use DADGAD a lot but have never tried this one. The chords are gorgeous - lots of beautiful dissonance. Really pretty melody and lovely vocals. I had to look up the word "animist" - very interesting. Your lyrics are also my favorite kind - an open sort of writing where you don't give away everything but you give us a framework that we can interpret with based upon our knowing. I also love how you anchored each verse to show us the time elapse - and it feels like the cycle will continue to repeat indefinitely. What a cool song - glad I found it.
Rich DADGAD happening here. The final stanza touched me most. Great work this FAWM.
