(You Refuse To) Be My Muse

Liner Notes
Do you know any artists who come out of the gate with something brilliant, but the second the world calls them brilliant, they lose the thread? I think it’s a blessing to write in obscurity.
This song is sort of about that, but it’s mostly about someone who doesn’t give a hoot about being “immortalized” in art, and how cool and liberating that is.
Forgive my French.
Lyrics
What good’s a carousel that’s still? A rusted mournful Ferris wheel An empty mansion on a hill If I could make you move I will
You refuse To be my muse And that’s what I love about you You are free As the sea And you won’t stay a statue
Propellers of a plane in motion All of the salt that’s in the ocean And just a touch of sun tan lotion Could never match your magic potion
You refuse To be my muse And that’s what I love about you You are free As the sea And you won’t stay a statue
Je ne veux pas d’un bon vivant It’s not the finer things I need Je ne veux pas d’un bon vivant No more caviar Please
You refuse To be my muse And that’s what I love about you You are free Free As the sea See And you won’t stay a statue

I think probably the pressure of needing to be brilliant ruins the creative process. Anyway, really nice picking on this. I love the interplay of the guitars in stereo. It's quite lovely.
I agree with you on writing in obscurity, there is a kind of under-appreciated freedom that gives artists. I love this idea of someone refusing to be a muse and inspiring a song anyway. The guitar sounds great too!
We’re doing it the right way, racking up a million songs now, so when we DO get famous and run out of ideas, we can just re-record these endlessly lol.
The little whirls in the accompaniment are so delightful, as are the parts where the accompaniment follows the vocal exactly! I like the doubled vocals that pop in and out. The pressure of constant high level high quality output would be quite damaging to the art, I agree! I feel like I see so much greater poesy and interesting chordal turns here on FAWM and the like compared to anything Big Algorithm serves up
