“Picture Frame” started out as a groovy slow-tempo folk song, but with @bearwith it was transformed into a slightly more up-tempo while still spacious and hopefully dreamy psychedelic pop song.

Inspired by the feeling of stumbling into honesty and awareness, and a willingness to embrace the process of learning to be ourselves, this song has confessional elements that I feel at personal and societal levels, as well as a recollection of a childhood sense of playing just for the fun of it—when we can’t help but be who we really are! The image of a “picture frame” was inspired by seeing a framed photo of myself as a 10 year old playful rascal on my parents’ piano, remembering that kid and trying to live into that joyful freedom I see in his eyes!

This is about as philosophical as my songwriting gets, and I’m grateful that FAWM encourages us to be ourselves!
