waning winter moon V1

Liner Notes
One of my challenges is my tendency to write long rhyming couplets - nice for poetry, but far more challenging for songwriting. These lyrics are a good example of that. I had no intention of turning them into a song with a #rock beat or guitar, but a melodic idea came to me this morning and I decided to try it out.
It was a good exercise but, meh. I saw a forum discussion about making several versions of the same song to see where they take you. I may do that for these lyrics, since this idea was musically very far from the snippet of a melody idea that I recorded elsewhere. #versionone
I'm currently frustrated by a lingering wrist ache that makes guitar playing painful. So I tried to use the Smart Guitar feature in my iPad. I've had decent success with it elsewhere but it's quite unsatisfying here.
It ain't FAWM without a #winter song.
Lyrics
falling, failing leaves, why do you trouble me? a brilliant autumn coat is pulled off of the trees and turns a chilly traipse into a thing for royalty but the gold & crimson carpet soon fades to brown beneath the rain and snow and wind and all that hails your sound defeat
come here, my dear, come sit with me by the well come sit with me and be still and we’ll listen to what we hear rising from the deep the quiet voice will speak and you will live
O waning winter moon, do you give cause for fear? the long enduring time, the circling months and years are steady and dependable and seasons do not fail but still I have to wonder while I watch you disappear if summer will return again or if that ship has sailed
come here, my dear come sit with me by the well come sit with me and be still we’ll listen until we hear what’s rising from the deep the winter voice will speak and you will live
sit with me or hold my hand until I find my courage until I hear the words I need, until I see the image twilight and the night to come cold and all the darkness sink into my soul and all my outlook becomes godless until I drink the water from the well of endless giving until I have the fire I need to draw the breath of living sit with me or hold my hand until I find my courage my courage my courage
come dear, come sit with me by the well sit with me and be still we’ll listen until we hear what’s rising from the deep the winter voice will speak and you will live
The spare music allows your warm vocals to shine. Very nice lyrics delivery. Wonderful imagery
