Liner Notes

Trumpton, Camberwick Green and Chigley, if you're not familiar, were a series of stop motion animated children's TV shows made in the late 60s, narrated by the legendary Brian Cant, and repeated long into the 1980s (at least). I loved them as a kid. They were about the lives of the people in these three little communities in Trumptonshire.

Anyway, I thought I'd pop in with my #ukulele and see how they were getting on 40 years later. Not well, it turns out. #fuc

(I realise, before anyone tells me, that one of my favourite bands Half Man Half Biscuit have already done this idea much better with "The Trumpton Riots". But it's FAWM isn't it... it's fun to play with these ideas so I'm doing my version. I bet somebody helpfully informs me in the comments anyway.)

Lyrics

Windy Miller's chugging on the cider once again Homeless since they knocked the windmill down Didn't even get his compensation When they built a shopping centre out of town

The Town Hall clock isn't ticking any more Since the scandal with the Mayor was exposed Chippy Minton's boarding up the windows where Mr Clamp and Mrs Cobbit had to close

It used to be so pretty here in Chigley And in Trumpton it was peaceful and serene But Windy's fallen off his trike and Captain Flack has gone on strike So keep out of Camberwick Green Keep out of Camberwick Green

Winkstead Hall's in a state of disrepair And Belborough will hang his head in shame Although he still denies the allegations He has lost the chance to drive the village train

Mr McGregor doesn't have to call in sick Now the whistle at the factory never blows But the flags are flying proudly on the lampposts Even as the unemployment rose

It used to be so pretty here in Chigley And in Trumpton it was peaceful and serene But Windy's fallen off his trike and Captain Flack has gone on strike So keep out of Camberwick Green Keep out of Camberwick Green

Pugh and Pugh have fallen out with Dibble and with Grubb Find them on the picket line and then off to the pub

It used to be so pretty here in Chigley And in Trumpton it was peaceful and serene But Windy's fallen off his trike and Captain Flack has gone on strike So keep out of Camberwick Green Keep out of Camberwick Green
